And they should.
I'm assuming that there's no interest among Sweeney and co., though?
And they should.
This is quite a stretch in my opinion. If seny pops 20 goals this year and Ritchie pots 15 were in good shape. It's doable not totally out of the question.
They love tiny defensemen but wouldn't pick up a small forward if you took one of their children hostage.I'm assuming that there's no interest among Sweeney and co., though?
I don't know the answer to that. But with some creative thinking they can make it work.I'm assuming that there's no interest among Sweeney and co., though?
he played with Backlund & Gaudreau in Calgary from what I understand.I don't have Heinen in my top 6, Although he has shown he can play up there if he needs to. I would prefer him on the third line. I don't want Ferland there either, I don't think he is a top 6 player.

BingoHis good numbers came from playing with Monahan, Gaudreau and Aho.
First one was an RFA so his deal should be less, second if Heinen goes out and provides Ferlands physical game, which includes hitting, and playing with something resembling intensity, maybe falls into a scrum by stepping on a stick, stands up for a teammate, intimidates a defenseman with a bone jarring hit, makes himself visible and not "quietly effective" then GM of the year wont look as ineffective and this deal won't be as bad as it is now.
Chances of this happening are zero. Heinen will go out, play his nice, quiet, inoffensive, defensive game, put up 10-12 goals and 20 or so assists for 30-35 points and on most night most fans won't notice him. The Heinen Army will come on and say how great he was winning a puck battle on the boards and his one take away and is well worth his money, when he gets an assist we will hear what a great deal it is, if he has a goal and an assist in the same game they will tell us how he is underpaid.
Meanwhile Ferland in Vancouver will score 18-20 goals with comparable assists, lead his team in hits, stand up for teammates, drop his gloves, lay out some bone jarring hits and probably be made an assistant captain. None of this will matter to the Heinen Army who do not value those assets as much as Heinen's quietly effective game and will say he has the potential to score 60-70 points and should be on the top line with two of the best players in the league because he played there for a few games last year.
I meanwhile will sacrifice 28 years of sobriety reading about the great Heinen is now the most underrated player in the league and how he is quietly tough and vital to team success.
One thing about Claude that sometimes I liked and sometimes I hated was how much he stuck with line combos. I’d like to see Cassidy put Heinen with Bergeron and Marchand in camp and keep them together all year. Same with Debrusk-Krejci-Pastrnak. Let the top 6 build chemistry.Danton Heinen - Fantasy Hockey Game Logs, Advanced Stats and more - Frozen Tools
Look at the difference in linemates heinen had compared to ferland. Unreal.
Ferland had Aho and terravainen stuck to his hip nearly all year.

so he is able to play with top 6 players and contribute? His good numbers came from playing with Monahan, Gaudreau and Aho.

he put up 8 points in a 24 game playoff run with Coyle & Johansson firing on all cylinders and all 3 guys healthy.I’m honestly torn between heinen playing on the first line RW and having him play 3rd line LW (his natural shooting side). I want to see what he can do in his natural shooting position rather than his off wing.
Also am very intrigued to potentially have a line of
Heinen-coyle-studnicka
But honestly I’m comfortable putting Heinen anywhere as long as he has actual nhl talent around him and not backes or a bunch of AHL players who aren’t ready yet.
how is that different from Heinen who likely would have finished the year with 20-something points if not for the month he spent with Bergeron & Marchand? No. It's more he needs top 6 talent to drag him up. He is significantly worse when not playing with them and doesn't make them better.
So would I, particularly Gusev. If nothing big happens I’d be fine with Heinen on Bergeron’s line though.I'd much rather see the Bruins get another top six forward and Move Heinen to the third line.
For me it’s because I think if Heinen is kept in that situation he can put up 50-60 points. He scored 48 as a rookie with Backes and Riley f***ing Nash lol. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Heinen. Ferland has put up around 40 points mostly playing with top line centers. Ferland is what he is most likely.how is that different from Heinen who likely would have finished the year with 20-something points if not for the month he spent with Bergeron & Marchand?

Well, crap. I was hoping that Boston would go after him.
What would you have been willing to pay him? And who were you going to replace him with?
