Agreed
this is our guy(for now)
Clarke is one of my favorites in this class, but it is a super wide open draft and there is a lot of time between now and draft day.

Philippe LapointeHow many sons of ex-players/current Wings employees are there?
I want all of them.
The Wings poached Chief Amateur Scout Ryan Rezmierski from Nashville and the other Chief Amateur Scout is former defenseman Jesse Wallin, so I have faith that between the 2 of them they will pick the best D available in our spot.Owen power please. Then Wright next year, and the rebuild is not only complete, but we will have one of the most formidable rosters in the league. Top 6 of Raymond-Wright-Zadina and Bert-Larkin-Mantha, plus a top pairing of Power-Seider with hronek, wallinder, maybe even werenski rounding that off...drool worthy. Future is bright. Not to mention other kids like berggren, Ras, etc.
apart from power, the other kids like edvinsson, Clarke, lambos, Hughes all have 1D potential as well. Great draft for D.
Next to no hype so far the 21 Draft which leaves me less excited about it. Usually when there isn't a clear runaway leader or two it is a weaker year, which sucks when you need big game players.
no Johnson in either list?
They made a comment about not seeing him at the next level yet. I think that applied to Power as well.no Johnson in either list?
I don't know how I feel about Kent Johnson. Great highlights but the competition is considerably weaker in the BCHL than most other major junior leagues in North America.
My worry is that he's an Alex Turcotte/Alex Newhook as a prospect. A guy who has great stats but is really a true 2C. I also read one comparable to Kyle Turris that doesn't look too far off. Similar strengths, same league, same career path (NCAA).
Newhook, Turcotte and Turris are/were great prospects. I wouldn't use a top 10 pick on any of them with hindsight.
What a lazy analysis. Johnson is much more skilled with the puck than Turris was at that age. Every forward that comes out of the BCHL is compared to Turris because people are lazy. It will be interesting to see what he looks like at Michigan this year against older kids.
Also, very few top 10 picks truly project as number one centers. Those that do tend to be taken first or second overall. There is zero shame in drafting a good 2C in the top 10.

Top10 drafted centers:
- 28x 1st line Centers (59.6%)
- 3x Top6 wingers (6.4%)
- 8x 2nd line centers (17.0%)
- 4x Bottom6 players (8.5%)
- 4 busts (8.5%)
Final conclusions:
- Top10 drafted centers mostly (59.6%) become 1st line centers, and they rarely become 2nd line centers.
- But it's also pretty good chance (38.7%) to find 1st line centers outside of Top10 picks.
That is some very liberal use of the term "top-line center"
Buuuut...who is this William Eklund kid? 4 points in 7 SHL games as a 17 year old rookie
i’d it too late to trade raymond for himThis is pretty damn impressive... also did well at the Hlinka last year. Wondering if he will gain some hype soon, he actually is at 5 pts in 8 SHL games now.
I can't believe people are not excited about this class....ok so there is no Laf, Dahlin, or McDavid level guy at #1, but so what? There are 4-5 defensemen who easily have the potential to be on the level of a Heiskanen or a Pieterangelo. If you can get that with a top 3 or 4 pick you take that to the bank! Or look at it this way, we would have been thrilled with a Hughes or Kakko in 2019...I'm positive that someone will at least be at that level when all is said and done.
