How many sons of ex-players/current Wings employees are there?

I want all of them.

I have a feeling that this time Wings will win the lottery, because this draft is supposed to be weaker than last draft or 2022 draft. Of course then Wings will win the lottery, but i won't complain. I take Owen Power any day in the week. 2022 draft lottery winner will be again some loaded team like Pens, Hawks, Leafs, Devils, etc.... and Wings will pick at #6.

Owen power please. Then Wright next year, and the rebuild is not only complete, but we will have one of the most formidable rosters in the league. Top 6 of Raymond-Wright-Zadina and Bert-Larkin-Mantha, plus a top pairing of Power-Seider with hronek, wallinder, maybe even werenski rounding that off...drool worthy. Future is bright. Not to mention other kids like berggren, Ras, etc.

apart from power, the other kids like edvinsson, Clarke, lambos, Hughes all have 1D potential as well. Great draft for D.

The Wings poached Chief Amateur Scout Ryan Rezmierski from Nashville and the other Chief Amateur Scout is former defenseman Jesse Wallin, so I have faith that between the 2 of them they will pick the best D available in our spot.

I'm hoping that Hakan gets to do the late round picks since he's probably not gonna get the first rounder. The last 3 picks in this draft were very much meh....

I'm also hoping they throw a second rounder at a goalie, the team needs a real goalie prospect.

Lots of good defenders, there is no clear number 1 prospect, therefore I won't be that mad if we don't get the 1st overall pick.

Next to no hype so far the 21 Draft which leaves me less excited about it. Usually when there isn't a clear runaway leader or two it is a weaker year, which sucks when you need big game players.

Usually yeah.

But we can't predict the future. Top talents can be more equal than ever on future drafts.

It's just talent distributed in different order. We could get our Pettersson at #5. Or Makar at #4, or Heiskanen at #3. How bad that would be?

This 2021 could look like 2011, where greatest talents finally ended up being guys taken 6-7-8-9.

no Johnson in either list?

I don't know how I feel about Kent Johnson. Great highlights but the competition is considerably weaker in the BCHL than most other major junior leagues in North America.

My worry is that he's an Alex Turcotte/Alex Newhook as a prospect. A guy who has great stats but is really a true 2C. I also read one comparable to Kyle Turris that doesn't look too far off. Similar strengths, same league, same career path (NCAA).

Newhook, Turcotte and Turris are/were great prospects. I wouldn't use a top 10 pick on any of them with hindsight.

What a lazy analysis. Johnson is much more skilled with the puck than Turris was at that age. Every forward that comes out of the BCHL is compared to Turris because people are lazy. It will be interesting to see what he looks like at Michigan this year against older kids.

Also, very few top 10 picks truly project as number one centers. Those that do tend to be taken first or second overall. There is zero shame in drafting a good 2C in the top 10.

They're compared to Turris because Turris was a phenom in the BCHL. He was considered a good skater, great stickhandler, had an incredible shot, and was considered a can't miss kind of guy.

Final conclusions:

That is some very liberal use of the term "top-line center"

Buuuut...who is this William Eklund kid? 4 points in 7 SHL games as a 17 year old rookie

This is pretty damn impressive... also did well at the Hlinka last year. Wondering if he will gain some hype soon, he actually is at 5 pts in 8 SHL games now.

I can't believe people are not excited about this class....ok so there is no Laf, Dahlin, or McDavid level guy at #1, but so what? There are 4-5 defensemen who easily have the potential to be on the level of a Heiskanen or a Pieterangelo. If you can get that with a top 3 or 4 pick you take that to the bank! Or look at it this way, we would have been thrilled with a Hughes or Kakko in 2019...I'm positive that someone will at least be at that level when all is said and done.

It's just the lack of knowledge, because we don't know the top picks yet. Maybe we don't them at draft time either. Top forwards prospects are also always more exiting.

This 2021 also means, that there's kind of a minimal reason to tank at this season, we could easily not be the worst team and play better hockey. Drafting at 5-6-7-8 position could make no difference, when the table is so open.

Horcoff spoke glowingly of Frölunda in Bultman’s latest athletic piece. We are gonna get a really good look at Edvinsson. Sometimes he looks like Dahlin out there, 6’4 d man with a ton of offensive talent
