Monahan, 2020 2nd for Georgiev and DeAngelo. Rangers get a much needed 2nd line centre and Flames get a much needed RH offensive dman and goalie. Move Lindholm to C.

What's this about?
TDA is an elite PP guy. He should be playing lower pairing minutes on defense. It's really a matter if your PP stinks and you need to fix it as to what your interest in him would be. Either way the Rangers would never make this deal at this moment. Until Lundkvist comes over and the Rangers find out what they have with their other goalie prospects they will most likely be with the Rangers for another season. I just hope if Gorton signs TDA he isn't dumb enough to include and NTC or NMC clauses in his contract so he can move him to any team he likes when he decides to do that.
After having the joy of watching ADA in junior, there's no way I'd ever want him around my team. However, everyone if fooling themselves if they believe he returns anything less that Kapanen. He plays a position of need for most teams and although his defensive game is suspect, he's there for transition and to generate offense.
I think this is incorrect. I thought I read somewhere that ADA was 3rd in points in 5v5. So he is not just a PP specialist.
Was going to say this. People have this idea he's just a PP specialist with no defense haven't watched the guy in years. He drives play at even strength. Not an easy skill to come by.
Why would the Rangers consider trading him? Explain his strengths and weaknesses and why you would move him? Rangers seem to need D right?
1) NYR's top 3 defensemen all play the right side
2) If NYR keep ADA they're going to eventually end up paying around 22-24 million just for right defense if Fox continues to be spectacular
3) Those 3 right D may block the prospect development of a very solid RH prospect in Nils Lundkvist who could give the team 3 solid years at ELC money level.
So, in short, its basically trying to move a player from a position of strength, right as his salary is about to balloon, to try to address other weaknesses in the lineup at Left D and Center.
Sounds about what the Habs are trying to do with Domi but his good season was at 23, not at age 24 this past year. I get it now. Quite the jump from Deangelo from age 23 to 24. Hard to nail down his value and some will make the phone call for sure on Deangelo. Jets might be a good one to talk to. Maybe the Flames as well.
But you looking for what? LD or Center? Hard to find top 2C's but you could flip Deangelo for a LD I am sure.
I don't know what management's target is, but if it was me, I'd want either
1) A shutdown LD, doesn't need to have a lick of offense in their game but very reputable defensively on a reasonable contract.
or
2) A draft pick or near NHL ready center prospect
Our defense was bottom 5 defensively last season, despite producing a ton of offense. The balance is off.
1) NYR's top 3 defensemen all play the right side. Trouba and Fox are going to be Rangers for a long time.

Every rangers fan I know personally is 100% ready to move on from deangelo. They complain he can’t play defense. 3 playoff games, -6 and was completely posterized by Aho in the last game. Add in that he needs a new contract, I just don’t think he is worth as much as some people might think
Skjei getting better with Carolina is also questionable. I highly doubt he's gotten better. He's not that talented. Great size and skating. Defended pretty well until the last year or two when his hockey sense was gone. Maybe he did a little better in the Carolina system away from Lindy Ruff, but Skjei is not magic beans. At best, he's an okay mid-pair defensemen. He had warn out his welcome with the Rangers a long time ago.
Deangelo, Lemieux and Hurricanes 1st for Nylander.

He’s absolutely atrocious at defendingHe tweeted a positive message about a polarizing American politician about 3-4 years ago. The horror. He’s actually one of the more we’ll liked guys on the team and he’s willing to drop the gloves for a teammate on occasion. He’s by no means a shutdown defenseman but he’s nowhere near the tire fire he’s reported to be. The one reason he might be available is that the Rangers paid Trouba already and will have to pay Fox and do you want to pay 20 million for 3 RD’s. I’d actually like to keep DeAngelo but I can see where it makes sense to listen on him. I think he’s going to score a lot more points in his career and will be a big part of whatever team he’s on. I hope this isn’t Zubov trade part two...
I don't know that it's very realistic either way, but how would Rangers fans feel about DeAngelo for Fowler base?
Rangers solve their issue of having too many similar RHD, get a more proven minute muncher to slide in as your top LHD for the foreseeable future.
Anaheim can use DeAngelo in an ideal situation for him, on the 2nd or 3rd pairing with guys like Lindholm/Manson/Gudbranson etc taking on the heavier defensive assignments. The Ducks have no PP quarterback in the system and are crying out for offensive help.
Fowler has six years remaining at 6.5M, I'm unsure what the projections are for DeAngelo's next deal but I'd guess he'd come in over 5M and make the financial trade off fairly close.
