Snow will stay within the organization but will only be allowed to do things he does well like cooking coffee and swearing.

How does one cook coffee? Also I doubt Snow would be good at that if you could cook coffee, as his oven mitts don't fit in the kitchen.

People need to realize that Lou has been incompetent for almost a decade now. Ever since the clutch and grab error ended, he's been a terrible GM. He left the Devils with almost no farm system. That being said, Snow was the worst GM in sports. So Lou just sitting in his chair has to be an upgrade.

It’s not surprising that Lou would talk to Tavares when joining the Islanders. You want to know where your best player and UFA stands when you join a team. Doesn’t really move the needle one way or another on him re-signing, IMO.

What is surprising is that the Leafs would just let Lou go at this time, with his knowledge of the Leafs’ draft and FA plans.

must be sour grapes

Aesop’s fable:

“Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapeshanging high on the vine but was unable to, although he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked 'Oh, you aren't even ripe yet! I don't need any sour grapes.' People who speak disparagingly of things that they cannot attain would do well to apply this story to themselves”

Sour grapes would be a poster saying “Oh well, Tavares disappeared when it mattered this year anyway. Don’t want him on my team”.

In this instance the “grapes” would be Tavares and the “sour grapes” comparable would be a poster pointing out bad things about Tavares after it was clear they could not obtain him.

A poster questioning an anonymous “insider” as being Eklund isn’t sour grapes.

Or the Leafs sent Lou with a message for JT? Optics are not good. Even Friedman said last night between periods that other executives around the league are not happy with this.

Why would Lou leave the Leafs, go to a new team and then still try to help the Leafs?

Welp, looks like JT is not signing with the Islanders now. If the past is any indicator, Lou will let him walk based solely on the fact that the media picked up on it.

JT: Please Lou, I've always planned on staying
Lou: Sorry kid, out of my hands. You understand, loose lips and what not

Highly doubt either team would be stupid enough to not make sure any discussions would violate tampering rules.

....yes, because it makes sense for Lou to join a new team and then help his old team land the top UFA on the market.

Hey, if JT re-ups with the Isles there's no issue at all. Just saying it'll look really shady if he signs with the Leafs, mere months after one of the Leafs' former top brass starts talking to him.

Nhl has already said everything involving Lou and talking to JT is all good according to HNIC last night

Well that's a plus.

This is an insane stance to take.

*flips open the Leafs Hater Handbook to Chapter 2: Things that don't involve the Leafs*

Tampering!!!

How can this be tampering if he is talking to JT on behalf of the Isles? If anything Leafs are the the good guys here allowing Lou to speak to JT before being officially hired by the Isles.

Everything Lou does is ok with the NHL. He has abused the rules for years.
Why wouldn't Lou wait till after he formally signs with the Islanders?? He has weeks before UFA season.

What was the rush????????

I don't see how.

Are you suggesting that it wouldn't raise a few eyebrows if Tavares signs with Lou's former team, mere weeks after speaking with him?

What if Lou then retires before the season starts? Would that be enough to suggest something's a little off about this?
