of the new guys, the only one i would consider inducting is patrik elias. but i'd give his case some time and distance to reflect on his place and legacy.
for guys already eligible, it's time for theo fleury. but i fear that people are going to have to die before they'll let him in, because inevitably all the awfulness of graham james will re-enter the news cycle and at this point the only reason he's not in is certain abettors and blind-eye turners have friends in high places.
i see no reason why we can't let alfredsson sit a few more years too. what argument is there for alfredsson over elias other than proximity to toronto and not catching the hep? i don't like comparing with the low/debatable end of the threshold, but a hall that includes federko should also include both elias and alfredsson. i guess i'd be happy to see the committee really think about it and decide whether federko's case (some top tens, good playoff record, face of a franchise) was a good idea or a bad one.
cujo i don't love but i also objectively find it hard to see him outside when all is said and done. i'd give him a few more years to really feel out how glaring his omission is. my only thing with cujo is, let's look at the fifth best goalies of their eras that are in: alec connell, worsley, cheevers, those are guys with multiple cups. cujo has neither the cups, nor the individual accolades to make up for it, not even a single AST2.
if it were me, i'd say to hell with the boys' club and go fleury, tremblay/brewer, a soviet (probably mikhailov), and of course hayley wickenheiser.
but it'll probably be wickenheiser, roenick, cujo, and i wouldn't be surprised if one or both of lecavalier and turgeon round it out.
