If Phaneuf is bought before next season, it will have to be before June 30th, during the window which opens soon after the draft.

Normally, players have to be put on waivers before being bought out. Since Phaneuf has a NMC, he can reject waivers and go straight to buy out. Doubtful he’d be claimed by anyone, but if we get news of waivers on Dion soon after the draft, then there is a good chance a buyout is coming and the player expects to get another NHL job right away.

Viliardi (if healthy), Kupari, Luff, Rempal, Lizotte, Anderson, and Clague will have impressive camps and outplay most of the veterans. They will be sent down because lack of experience. They will be called up throughout the year and sent back down immediately after their first mistake. The same mistake that Phaneuf, Forbort, and Carter make a dozen times a game.

I don’t have a f***ing clue what the lineup will look like coming opening night but, I could see the Kings try to acquire a guy like Andre Burakovsky or maybe Andreas Athanasiou, though I’m not sure the Wings would be willing to deal him. He’s pretty darn good value for money right now.

My God, that Defense is horrendous!! I still think we should move Toffoli for Justin Faulk ... I threw in Brickley for a few reasons;
1- He looked ok/good with DD when he was paire with him and DD can carry anyone
2- His physicality and ability to move the puck can be any worse than Forbort
3- 6-3, 205
4- It allows us to "solidify" the bottom 4 and if say a Mikey Anderson is ready anytime before the TDL he can be paired with Amart and get mentored or Clague for that matter.. and if we're lucky, both of them can be mentored
