I see he played 3 years for UPEI then 1 with Nipissing. Did he not graduate? What was is 'compelling argument' for the transfer because UPEI has an Education program (which he enrolled in at Nip).
Defending Canada West Champion Alberta who returned to National prominence IMO last season return their top seven scoring forwards, their top 8 D and their #1 goalie.
The Bears have received verbal committments from two WHL graduates who will add to Alberta's deep offence up front.
One of the players has averaged 35 goals a season for the last two seasons, the other has averaged roughly 75 points per season for the last two years.
Both SHOULD play in Ian Herbers' top 9 up front.
Luke Siemens who stole some games in Edmonton last year for the Prince Albert Raiders will challenge Kurtis Mucha for the #1 job in goal.
My expectation is that the Golden Bears when it is all said and done will have a better team come September then a year ago.
As many of you the Bears were snakebitten at the University Cup in Saskatoon and were perhaps unlucky to have not advanced to the final against UNB.
We will see if Alberta can take the next step this season.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the board so I hope I picked the right thread for the following:
I want to find out my CIS eligibility status.
Here's some information about myself:
I am a German goalie, born in March 1993 (therefor turning 21 on March 2014) and currently enrolled in college in Germany.
After junior I've been playing pro during the 2012/13 and 2011/12 seasons in both the 2nd and 3rd German league each year.
My latest pro game was on March 2nd 2013.
Is this information enough to figure out my eligibility status? I've been reading all the rules and regulations on the CIS website and I think there might be a chance but I'm not sure.
Just checking this, too: NCAA is definitely not possible, right?
Also, is it too late to get in touch with Colleges/ Universities for the upcoming season?
How would I proceed - just call and send emails to the coaches of all the schools?
Are open try-outs actually worth going? (keep in mind I live in Germany and a flight to Canada is not exactly cheap...)
Thank you in advance!
Lou
Btw, I don't mean to hijack this thread so please let me know if this is not the right place!

Drummer, great point! Let's allow this thread to continue with actual recruiting information now

STU announces more recruits
F- Brendan Childerly (Brampton, OHL) (de-commits from Acadia)
F- Derek Froats (Brampton, OHL)
F- Jason Trott (Vancouver, WHL)
G- Alex St. Arnaud (Dieppe, MHL)
Considering the circumstances I think that is a pretty solid group to start with for Powers. I was skeptical they would get anyone with major junior experience so to get a couple is a big win for them IMO.
I agree in the short team that Pat plugged the holes that he needed to fix. But in the case of Froats who was a high OHL draft pick from the Frontenacs at one time, never really panned out as a bonafide CHL player like he could have been. Too injury prone and a touch over-rated is the knock on him.
