Sadly I think we're going to need to get used to this kinda thing. Bergy is not really that old but he has a lot of mileage on him. It's just the way it goes in the wonderful world of aging.

Quite possibly. The problem with groin injuries is that they're hard to treat and there's no easy or guaranteed means of doing so - what might work in one case won't in another. Particularly when there's degeneration in the tendons or associated muscles, as Bergy will almost certainly have, it's not really about repairing anything as such but trying to stem the ongoing damage, prevent inflammation and other issues and make the tendons as strong and durable as possible.

It's a tricky science, where it can sometimes take a hit and miss approach to find the best solution for each patient, if an effective one is found at all. Bergy's PRP injection demonstrates that - they're pretty common for pro-athletes, and hopefully in his case it helps, but the medical science around their benefits (or lack thereof) is still very mixed. The most important thing for the Bs is to make sure he's 100% right, or as close as possible, before he plays a game. If that's later than October 3, I'd rather that than playing him too soon.

Bergeron needs to sit until the healing process is as good as it can be. They need him for the playoff for the next 2-3 years, not the regular season. He was a shadow of himself in the SCF.

He is going on his 16th professional season and it's
clear his body is showing lots of wear and tear.
It's close to 50/50 Boston will end up with a WC
slot or worse if Bergeron performs at his SCF level.

Injury updates

Cameron Hughes, struck with a skate blade to the mouth it the final rookie game last Monday in Buffalo, is expected will miss the start of training camp.
“He’s got extensive damage that he needs to follow up on,” said Sweeney. “He has a significant injury there, so we have to make sure that he is healthy.”
Trent Frederic and Matt Grzelcyk both have been contending with minor injuries, but both should be good to go for the start of drills on Friday.
“We’ve talked about monitoring all of our guys — obviously, we had a hell of a run and we need to be cognizant of that. And again, it’s a great opportunity for other players, for them to realize that those are minutes that are going to get spread around accordingly and they can step forward. The competition internally should be really good.”

Any word on Blidh- those that watched the game last night he got hammered in the corner late in the first and never came back. The camera didn't catch it straight on as it was behind the play, but it looked like an elbow to the head as he was going down. I beleive Keth Jones mentioned he looked a little shaken up, but it could have been Bjork he was talking about also as later in the sequence he went shoulder first into the boards.

Any updates on Cameron Hughes? I know he was injured with a skate blade to the mouth, against NJ from Sweeney's press release, posted earlier. I watched the game, but didn't see how it happened, they didn't really say much about it at the time!. Hope he is OK!

Any news on when Bergy and Nordy get in some games? They have both been skating with the team since the 14th. Marshy needs his bro back and Pasta needs the Bergy influence. Wags and Kuraly need their Swedish speedster back, no one else makes that line hound and puck pursuit like we seen in the playoffs.

from today's Globe:

Patrice Bergeron (groin) probably will make his debut on Saturday. Bergeron centered a line with Par Lindholm and Peter Cehlarik in practice at Warrior Ice Arena Monday morning.

Krejci remains sidelined

David Krejci, felled in Monday’s game against Philadelphia with a lower-body-something-or-other, missed a second day of practice. Cassidy reaffirmed his belief that his second-line pivot’s ailment is not serious . . . Roster hopeful Peter Cehlarik, who was absent from practice the last two days, has an undisclosed lower body injury and could return later this week
