It is funny that EA would take a mode with tons of broken key features, and instead of fix those broken key features as a treat for next gen console owners, they added an entirely new feature that is broken.

They need to rebuild GM mode completely if it is so bad that they can't even figure out how to include contract extensions in the current mode. THat, and it really should be built from scratch with GM connected in mind rather than trying to take the already offline version and port it online. Has anyone ever played GM Connected? It legit took 2-3 minutes to load between contract screens. Insane. No wonder it failed.

On the contract extensions, EA could totally work it in with the moral. For instance, you offer a guy a contract midway through the final year of his deal. He could either
A- be open to negotiations and stoke a deal
Or
B- say they he doesn't want to discuss this during the season. And if you keep asking, his moral could go down, or he could just say "I don't want to come back" or "I want to be traded".
EA has so many ways they could do this, and yet they just don't. It's quite sad as a fan

Yeah. That would be a nice feature.

Very true. I was originally just going to edit the rosters but I found out you actually can't move picks offline which kind of sucks. Guess I'll have to do my own trades.

They should allow you to move draft picks offline. Sure people will cheat and move all the draft picks to their team, but people find ways to cheat now too. You can just put all the good players on your favorite tea, then start a GM mode with no salary cap.

I'm not sure. I went to customize and I can move players, but I can't find draft picks anywhere. I might just be missing it.

It's not like HUT where cheating would affect other players. It affects themselves ultimately when the cap ****s them and players demand trades. People who post their GM logs here wouldn't do it anyways, so it'd still be a nice read and it'd allow people to not wait for roster updates to make the moves accurate.

I hope they do it next year and really fix GM Mode.

What I am referring to, is I am pretty sure I read somewhere that EA WANTS to add extensions, but they simply cannot figure out how. I would guess because of how contracts were initially programmed or something.

This mode is old. To do it justice on next gen, they should rebuild it from scratch, and do it with GM Connected partially in mind. They could keep the current mode on the disc as GM Mode "Classic" or something for people who prefer it due to familiarity.

Exactly. Now I have Toronto trading Polak and Spaling for Torres.

I hope they add it as well

So since we can't trade picks, it's...

Ladd, Harrison, and Fraser to Chicago for Dano  .

Please let us trade picks in the home screen next year

So I was playing GM mode on Legacy last night and as I was simming my Calgary Flames GM I noticed they got a Tie against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Has this ever happened to anybody before? I've been doing GM mode since NHL 13 and I have never seen this happen before.

AS for GM mode on next gen, I honestly think the whole thing needs a complete overhaul. I like the idea of having morale in it, but with the way EA programmed it, it fell flat on it's face.

Speaking of Toronto, how did EA handle Horton being on Toronto since there is no LTIR in the game?

Is he still an 85 or whatever he was in past games?

NHL 14 I ties the Penguins. I was losing so I quit, but after I exited the game and checked the calendar I saw that I tied them 3-3

Crazy how good the Hawks are this year.

That lineup looks like one you would have a few years into GM mode when you have all 80+ players

Was fully planning on doing San Jose, but with what Chicago has done, I kind of want to try and one up them. I might do Los Angeles now, not sure. Another team I've never done before. Either way I'm waiting until after the TD though.

PRE-TRADE DEADLINE NEWS

- It wasn't a very newsworthy season leading up to the All-Star Break, as the Hawks were all around solid until hitting a little speed bump a week before the All-Star Break and beyond.
- With a 34-19-6 record on February 15, it was known that Hawks GM, MCG wasn't happy with his bottom pairing of Jay Harrison - Trevor vanRiemsdyk, and was looking for an upgrade on the position. Chiarelli of the Oilers reportedly offered the Hawks Andrew Ference, which MCG responded they're not THAT desperate. Chiarelli persisted, which led to MCG challenging Chiarelli to a fight in the octagon. Chiarelli never called again.

TRADE DEADLINE

- With a 37-20-7 record at the trade deadline, good for second in the Central Division, no deal was completed for a defenseman, but the phones were off the hook and a deal was sure to be done by the deadline. The Hawks were seeking a bottom-pairing defenseman who could pitch in with some time on the penalty kill and be responsible enough where the Hawks could rely on them more than they did the bottom-pairing in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

TRADE - Feb 29. - The Chicago Blackhawks trade C Mark McNeill to the Arizona Coyotes for disgruntled 23-year-old defenseman, D Connor Murphy. Connor Murphy reportedly requested a trade from the Arizona Coyotes, but neither party confirmed it heading into the deadline, or even after it.

POST-TRADE DEADLINE

- The Chicago Blackhawks went a 9-6-3 run after the trade deadline, finishing the season with a 46-26-10 record, good for second in the Central Division.

Eric Staal signs a 1-year, $9-million deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

TRADE - JULY 1 - The Chicago Blackhawks trade LW Bryan Bickell to the Montreal Canadiens for Montreal's 2017 2nd-round-pick.

The Bryan Bickell trade allowed the Hawks to open up cap space to make a run at Eric Staal on a short-term deal to replace Marian Hossa's production. The Marian Hossa retirement was also the reason the Hawks were able to re-sign as many players as they did, including LW Andrew Ladd, who, at the beginning of the season, it was a forgone conclusion among many that he would be a UFA.

Personally of the 3 teams you listed..

I'd say the easiest would be Dallas.
Most interesting but in 2-3 years you should be making the playoffs fairly easily Toronto.
The hardest is SJ imo. A lot of older players only a few decent prospects. Interesting contracts not sure how hard some of them are to dump.

In the end it's up to you though. I'd pick Toronto personally only because I like Rielly a lot. Normally try to trade for him at some point.
