Both Rankings Lists took a huge hit!

Hollywood might have to admit that recent play could be a more significant factor?

With the UofA loss, UofS has to cancel the tractor pull that was originally scheduled at the arena so they can host UBC.
Well as Holley would say at least they will have had to put clean drinking water into the toilets and put some fresh gravel down in the fields for the anticipated weekend crowd ;) :)

From Bob Stauffer:

"Alberta outshot UBC 94 to 36 in the 2 games they lost."

These things happen.

With Alberta out, the U-Cup looks like it's UNB's to lose. Saskatchewan has long struggled when the UCup is hosted in the East.

OUA East Final - Concordia vs. Ottawa

Thu Feb 27 Concordia at Ottawa, 7:30pm
Sat Feb 29 Otttawa at Concordia, 7:30pm
Sun Mar 1 Concordia at Ottawa, 7:30pm (if necessary)

OUA West Final - Western vs. Guelph

Thu Feb 27 Western at Guelph, 7:30pm
Sat Feb 29 Guelph at Western, 3:00pm
Sun Mar 1 Western at Guelph, 7:30pm (if necessary)

Western seems to have gotten a liking for this Saturday matinee game. They were forced to take it in the first round against U of T because the women had the ice Friday and Saturday nights, but they've chosen it in the lasts two rounds....home matinee games have always been pretty rare for this team and pretty much unheard of in the playoffs except when the Queen's Cup was televised.

I think we'll see Ottawa vs. Guelph Queen's Cup, with Ottawa winning it.

Carleton had swept Concordia 3-0 in the regular season, and Ryerson had swept Western 2-0.

Just a hunch, but I'll take Ottawa's veteran-laden team over Concordia's youth.

It also seems that Guelph is hungry to prove themselves after Aagard left. Not sure Western has the same jam.

Apparently the Gee-Gees have 18 players slated to graduate this year. Some might stick around for a 5th year but regardless they are going to need to have a big recruiting drive.
Yeah this is their 4th year back since they were reinstated. To be fair, looking at the recruitment thread for next year, assuming I'm not miscounting, Ottawa has 9 of the 35 commitments listed

Ottawa is a strong university in a great city. They were OK for years because their coach was a limited factor. Grandmaitre is a great coach and a tremendous recruiter, so i'm not at all surprised by their success.

SMU 6 Acadia 2, game 3.
Acadia goes 0-7 on the pp. Game 4 goes tonight in Halifax.
UNB 4-1 over Moncton.
Reds sweep and lock up a spot in the University Cup Championship.
If SMU can't knock off Acadia in the best of 5, they will play Moncton in a best of 3, for the last AUS birth.

Saskatchewan should be used to it buy now, 2 trips to Halifax and 2 to Fredericton in the last 5 years.
The one they really blew, was the comeback loss to Alberta, when UNB had been upset in the early morning semi-finals. They took a bunch of penalties in the third, after being up a couple of goals.

I'm really interested in today's Top 10.

Curious to see what happens to the teams that lost their series? Also, there are ten teams left in the playoffs as of Monday night; UNB, UdeM, ACD, SMU, OTT, CON, GPH, UWO, UBC & USK - so do you rank them 1-10 (Maybe the only way that ACD gets some love) and drop the teams that are out? Say goodbye to #3 CAR, #4 ALB, #6 RYS, #7 UQTR, #8 CAL or rank on relative strength?

Divide by zero error - can not compute
