What bother me the most is that LFC have been skint for 5 years now. They have had a positive net spend 3 out of 4 years since Klopp joined. It is also lower than Everton net spend over that same period and they have been in the CL 3 years out of 4 and a half with him... not to mention 2 CL finals.

Something is fundamentally wrong... where is the money going?

The Premier League table based on net spend in the last five years

The good news is that the team is competitive and the core is locked up for a long time and hopefully Klopp can keep them motivated again next year.

I am not too concern about Werner going to Chelsea but I am very concern of LFC when their core players age and are not competitive anymore. How could they remain competitive if they cannot compete financially with the likes of Chelsea, Everton, Manchester clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham.
I mean, I agree no spend is a disappointment, especially in a thread about transfers, and in a sports media environment where the next big thing is always an exciting thing. It goes double on a site literally created to support future hockey players.

as much as I’m personally a bit disappointed because I’ve watched Werner since Stuttgart, the club has earned the right to do what it likes, even if that means not spending. They’re 25 points clear. They won the CL last season. I’m ok if they do what they like.

No way Icardi misses the Higuain chance and everyone knows it.
SEPH has a point here (yes he has), because Icardi on that team makes Argentina WC winners.
Thats presumptuous in more ways than one. No guarantee at all and his record for the NT proves it.

His record proves nothing since he never had a fair chance.
Anyone how knows football would know Icard is one of the best pure finishers in the game. He's similar to Inzaghi, he simply rarely missed chances.
That Higuain miss is on the other hand a miss few strikers would miss.
Icardi bangs it home, no question.

Of course that's a WHAT IF, but it's extremely reasonnable to think Icardi scores that one. Argentina may or may not have kept the score, but there's a good chance.

Here's a little stat :
Icardi is in Europe the player that needs the less touches to score a goal. He scores a goal every 22 touches in the CL and every 24 touches in L1. He scores a goal every 3 shots in L1 and every 2 shots in CL.

Those numbers are simply outrageous.

As for his NT record, he played for the U20 team in a summer tournament. Finished top scorer.
With the A team, thanks to some political lobbying he has only 8 games to show. He didn't start all, and 4 of them were meaningless friendlies. He has one goal and one assist.
In fact he has an average of under 60 minutes out of those 8 games.

So to judge him on those 8 games rather than his usual club (and CL) record is quite amazing.

Hes played 8 games for the NT and has missed chances. He may or may have not scored that goal. Just like any other player. Its extremely reasonable to think he might have scored but your suggesting is a guarantee which is not remotely true.

look at Higuain club record. Hell only reason he came back after 2014, is because he destroyed Italy with Napoli.

meaningless friendlies or not that was his chance to take the position and run. He has thus far bottled it unlike Martinez who has quite the scoring record.

There is probably no more than 1 or 2 players in the world who are more of a garantee to score this other than Icardi.
Higuain always missed chances.

How can you say he bottled his chance? Higuain bottled chance after chance and still gets selected.
Icardi is off the NT for reasons other than his football skills and you know it.

Argentina kept giving their choking generation chances (Aguero, Higuain, Tevez, Benedetto/Palaicios/garbage) over two legitimate superstars in Dybala/Icardi. It’s a travesty they have less than 10 apps and 30 apps each. Any other NT in the world it is double of that at least.

He did he's played 8 games and has looked pedestrian. Awful actually considering his job is goals. He's also bottle chances that would make Higuain blush. Not on the same stage as Higuain but still. In saying that he's an elite striker but you are taking for granted that its an automatic goal.

For sure in the beginning he was left off because Icardi is a garbage human but he's been called up numerous times now so, it's pretty much done and dusted. There's better options anyway. This wasnt the original topic though.

Yes and no... half those players you mentioned stopped getting called up after 2014. Dybala is an automatic call up now (he had to wait waaay too long for it) even though he's grossly misused.

Julien Laurens is reporting interest in Aouar as well. This could be an interesting time for teams with cash to make moves with clubs that have to sell.

Less than 500 minutes? LOL.
And you judge him on this rather than his incredible scoring record?
You deserve your NT then.
Called up numerous times? 8 times, less than 500 combined minutes, and uncalled since 2018?
OK.

Yeah let"s go back to what if Liverpool had good reasons not so sign Werner.
Is there any transfer news about Jonathan Ikone from Lille? Guy should be going to a big club in the next few windows.

Also what are your thoughts on the Tousart transfer? Thought that guy had potential as a destroyer.

wow lol

Like I said the original topic was if Icardi was on the team Argentina would've won in 2014... Him being automatic to score that Higuain goal...its presumptuous and if you go by his record for the team he was supposed to make win, it doesnt bode well.

He had, but he has stuggled a bit.
Lyon made out like bandits since he never really fit.
Ikone is a nice target, but haven't head much. Lille will sell Osimhen for north of 60M and Gabriel for big money too.
