Do you think Clarkson's deal is an albatross? He's only paid 750k more per year than Brouwer and the same term left on his deal. Clarkson has an NTC, sure, but mega high AAV is an NTC in itself. Their even strength performance (scoring rate, possession, expected goal number - you name it) is similar. Also largely forgotten due to becoming a joke around these parts are Clarkson's "intangibles", which is partly how he got his deal in the first place.
Except the Clarkson deal was considered an albatross when it was signed. This Brouwer signing is getting love from all pundits.
Also, Brouwer doesn't have an NTC, wasn't signed for 7 years and doesn't have more or less a buyout proof contract.
Terrible comparison.
Does Wideman have a terrible contract? He has 1 year left only.
