Yes.

But he is currently on the Bruins as an Emergency Recall because they have less than 12 healthy forwards. Emergency Recalls bypass wavers but the player has to be sent down immediately once a 12th forward is back.

So if Vatrano and Acciari are out for the next 10 games with injury, Czarnik can stay up all 10 games and then be returned to Providence without having to clear waivers even though 10 games would put him at 67 played.

Coach Cassidy (B's website) said today that Acciari and Miller could be back in the line-up on the weekend.

As I understand it, emergency recalls do not have to pass through waivers, however if he plays his 60 games he won't be able to be recalled on a non emergency basis without passing through waivers.

I thought Czarnik would have to pass through re-entry waivers too but apparently that was eliminated in the last CBA.
Waivers FAQ - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
'In the previous CBA, waivers were required when a player was recalled to the NHL (Re-entry waivers), these no longer exist under the 2012 CBA'

Rules are strict about the Emergency recalls but they can be manipulated to a point by sending waiver exempt players down forcing the team into an 'emergency' condition. As soon as either Vatrano or Acciari is back, Czarnik has to return to Providence but as we saw with McQuaid, they kept him on LTIR for about 2 weeks after he was practicing with the team and only took him off to replace McAvoy.

Czarnik played another solid game tonight. I love his speed. He looks like his overall game has improved as well.
What a team. So much depth.

Seems very likely Czarnik will become an UFA at season's end. He needs to play 21 more games with Boston this season to remain a RFA.

So, if they want to keep him they play him 21 games but risk losing him if he's sent down again?

If they don't play him 21 games they lose him any way as UFA? Shame.

And Austin was once again first star last night scoring a SO goal in 1-0 win vs Bridgeport.

Only if they don't re-sign him- not ideal all around, but better than losing him for sure on the waiver wire.

Czarnik is now #5 in scoring in the AHL, and just 2 points behind #2.

He has 15 goals and 35 assists in 46 games, and is +20 for the season.

Stuck in Providence because of the waiver glitch - but he’s had one hell of a season. He’s a UFA next year and IMO will pretty easily get an NHL deal next year. What are the odds (or is there any word) that Sweeney can resign him?

Didn’t realize that was a thing until I came to this thread.

In that case, I wonder if Sweeney made an attempt at moving him at the deadline. Imo he’s feeling the effects Vatrano did of being the odd man due to all of the kids coming up the pipeline. And this is even more so with the signings of Frederic and potentially Donato.

I really liked his game coming out of camp I think it was two seasons ago right before Gudas knocked his lights out. Thought he had a guaranteed spot on the roster prior to that hit. Since then he just hasn’t been able to stay up with the big club.

He belongs on the roster. In a brief call up earlier this season he worked well with Kuraly and Tim.

Austin brings an element to that line that others Don't have. Outstanding skater and passer while playing a solid defensive game.

I feel like Czarnik gets re-signed to a short deal and given the chance out of camp- at his age next summer will be make or break time for him with the B's. I like the player, but I also think he's really going to have to impress the coaches AND demonstrate a high level of consistency at the NHL level to stick. There are just too many good players in and around his same situation- Bjork, Donato probably, Cehlarik, Frederic, Senyshyn, Gabrielle might be back. I don't think he displaces Heinen or DeBrusk, then there is Schaller, Acciari, Kuraly also. It will be tough for Austin. I do think he'll be given every chance to make it.

Assuming there are no more injuries and don't need him before then, I'd expect to see him called up for the final 1 or 2 games of the season to rest or protect some other players for the playoffs.

With Hughes, Frederic, and Koppanen already added to Providence and Pare joining soon (plus possibly Sudnicka and Donato), they have a large influx of forwards in the AHL so Czarnik probably rides with the Boston Bruins through the playoffs as an extra forward or fill in. This could be their play to resign him on a 1 year contract by offering him a playoff run in Boston.

Isn't he an RFA this offseason anyways?

Why would he be given a chance at next year's camp when he wasn't given a chance at this year's camp?

Why would he sign to stay with the Bruins when he didn't get a chance to play despite showing he was capable?

Clearly they don’t want to lose him on waivers and they want him to play for Providence in their playoffs
I say bring him up and keep him, he is better then Acciari who was replaced by Wingels. We lost Spooners speed and if we play the Leafs I want him on the 4th line and not slow mo Acciari. Providence just added 4 players, way too many. Who cares about winning the AHL cup its all about adding different kinds of depth for the Stanley Cup.
