not going to happen otherwise he'd be there instead of Providence

Wrong...again.

Czarnik lost his waiver exemption partway through this season, and I would imagine the B’s (and PRO) didn’t want to lose him.

I’m not sure if he is eligible or not for the NHL playoffs, but if so, I would prefer him to Gionta.

I thought he was a game away from losing his waiver exemption and Boston didn't want to risk him not being able to go back to Providence if he played another game.

He has one game left (has 59 NHL games, can go to 60), but for all intents and purposes would lose his exempt status as soon as he was called up.

I think the Bruins will sign him and let him try and replace Riley Nash next year.

He might not be the guy in that spot long-term, but I think he'll be a good transitional guy.

i don't think they see him as a center. he's basically played RW in boston and providence.
like agostino a year ago, he's probably positioned to land a 1-way deal somewhere. am sure
boston will offer him that, but can they offer him the ice time he may desire?

I'd like to see him back and it will probably take a multi year 2 way with max AHL salary or 1 year 1 way NHL minimum deal, however if I'm his agent I'd be looking elsewhere, lots of competition here

Any chance they give him a shot against Tampa? Reports were that he was lights out in PB's playoff push. . .

I'd say it couldn't hurt to give him a game- I like what I think Donato will be, but Czarnik to me is a better option if we are going to shake the lines up and go with a young, fast player with offensive skills. Czarnik has looked better 200 feet than Donato at this point.

you risk losing him outright, nevermind resigning him

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but waivers aren’t an issue anymore so what do you mean, you risk losing him outright?
service time remember why Czarnik was in Providence, and not recalled

Stanley Cup games count overall service time, if Czarnik has 59 games as has been reported.... see the difference

There’s no waivers in the playoffs. Providence is done. There’s no need to send him back down. If he’s up, he can play. He’s going to be a UFA come July 1. He can play in games if needed.

No he shouldn't.

Heinen has earned the right to play.

Putting Czarnik in is a slap in the face to the guys who have been on the team the entire year.

It also reeks of desperation
But Donato and Gionta aren't? Czarnik has definitely earned the chance to play IMO, he did fantastic in the AHL and performed very well in his short stint in the NHL. I don't understand why he wasn't given more of a shot this year.

I’ll take Czarnik over Riley Nash right now and Heinen over Gionta. The team needs energy and speed, and sticking with these vets that are bringing nothing to the table is just bad coaching imo. We have nothing to lose right now.

What’s desperate is continuing to “go with what got you there” when they clearly aren’t getting it done.

Gionta is the slap in the face to the guys who have been on the team the entire year.

In 2017 Czarnik took the last spot away from Heinen. 2018 Heinen stepped up and took Czarnik's spot and ran with it putting up 47 points. Not sure why its one of the two and Gionta/Wingels/4th liners instead of both.

Not sure why Cehlarik isn't in the conversation either since he has looked good when hes played for us a few games the last 2 seasons. Hes the only younger option that isn't undersized like Czarnik and Donato are.

according to mark divver, the agent for czarnik says more than 2/3rds of the league has checked in on austin.
craig custance also listed him on his free agent tier article, so it seems there's basically no chance he'll be back.
i assumed that, but the amount of interest makes it a slam dunk. good for him - nice kid, hope he finds a good
spot.

I agree neely. I believe it will be a move that Boston will regret. He is a great character kid with a great attitude. He will go to a team that will benefit from his style of play...that new team is going to be elated with the deal they make with him once they see what kind of player that they have landed.

Loved the kids speed and hustle but looks like another one of those tweeners. He is too good for the AHL and likely a barely serviceable NHL player. All the best to him, he was great for Providence and gave it his all with the Bruins.

I hope he plays well wherever he goes! Would've liked him here in Boston, but he didn't seem to catch on the last time he played.

Great kid, really skilled, but I think he's gonna be a career winger in the NHL in the bottom 9. Boston has other wingers already that will do what he's gonna do this next year anyway. Like Bjork. And Donato.
