IMO, the body language alone, and the fact that Kresser did not even want to say any final words kind of indicate that by no means did Kresser crush anything. Even his capabilities to understand the data were limited, nor did he even adhere to industry-standard classifications. His nutritional advice were also all over the place.

Meat causes inflammation and it clogs up your arteries causing weak boners etc. The oxidization effects also are not good for you, and if you do eat meat, you should eat plants as well to counteract that effect. Of course, if you eat only a plant-based meal, the antioxidants will go directly to your body, which is why vegan athletes recover faster.

I'm not a specialist in this area for sure but that was the longest three hours of Kresser's life.

I urge anyone to watch it themselves, it's a long one but you will learn a lot. People are biased with all things so always look for yourself.
Ok, well I am a specialist(ish). Sounds to me like you're just parroting what they said I that "documentary" - did you know it was produced by James Cameron, who just happened to have invested $150 million in a pea protein processing plant?

If you want to talk about the specific physiologic mechanisms of how meat allegedly "clogs arteries", causes "weak boners", etc I'm game.

If you're basing your scientific knowledge on a vegan propaganda piece, there's no discussionn to be had here.

I don't care what is produced by anyone. I care for the facts. I understand that people have monetary incentives but a pea processing plant doesn't exactly sound like a golden opportunity of a century to scam people to me. Maybe the dude just wants people to be healthy.

I'm basing my opinion on the interview I posted, which is the most in-depth debate about this I have ever seen, and it was incredibly one-sided. Both sides had the opportunity to present their findings and debate them. I urge everyone to watch it themselves and come to their own conclusions. Don't believe me or Buffdog.

Grieves, please read this entire piece - you may rethink how you view the wilkes/kresser podcast.

I appreciate Layne for doing stuff like this so I dont have to

The Game Changers Debate: James Wilks vs. Chris Kresser on the Joe Rogan Experience (Updated) | Biolayne

Thanks, will definitely check it out. I actually skimmed it a bit, and it seems a Game Changers researcher called this guy up to correct some of the arguments, which he then corrected via edits. Depending on when you read that you might wanna check them.

I also found a debunking to the debunking :). These guys are going to have a debate about it, which I will check out as well for sure. I have no problems being wrong, I just want to get to the bottom of this. Intuitively, just based on how everyone is presenting their arguments, I would guess that the Game Changers side is probably the more formidable side, but that's just a gut feeling of mine for now.

Debunking of the debunking by Garth Davis, MD, below. It is a huge read but at a first glance it seems very detailed, you can actually see a difference on how these guys are presenting their arguments (not that it means anything definitely):

At the end of the day, I hope this doesn't devolve into a "vegan vs non vegan" thread lol. Whether someone chooses a whole food based vegan diet or the other end of the spectrum, a keto-carnivore diet, both will benefit from the same thing - cutting out over processed, hyperpalatable shit

You can definitely eat a whole food plant based diet and be healthy, but it's a lot harder. To get the protein you need, you either have to supplement or eat a shit tonne of legumes (which contains a lot of carbs).

The issue I'm having here is with the idea that animal protein is bad for us. Not only did we as a species evolve to eat animals, it is highly likely that our brains are the size they are because we did.

Think about it - if I dropped you off in the woods tomorrow, how would you survive? Would you rather you had a salad and granola bar to sustain you for a week or a giant ribeye? How do you think our ancestors survived pre-agriculture (farming has only been around for 20,000 years and includes animal husbandry)? They hunted and ate meat... and your genes are 99.99% the same as theirs

I've been around the "dietsphere" and know all the players. You really need to follow the money. The 7th Day Adventists are huge in funding the vegan movement... did you know that the church is behind pushing cereal for breakfast because they think eating grains will cause lower libidos and lead to less mastutbating?

All these vegan "experts" have their livelihood and reputation on the line (Davies, Kahn, etc....) none of them are gonna admit that the lifestyle they've been pumping for their entire lives may not be superior. Its classic cognitiven dissonance/confirmation bias.

Yep, let's not derail the thread. That upcoming debate should be interesting.

Protein you can get from a lot more things than legumes, c'mon.

I would just say that one should look at purely the arguments, it does not matter what you think about the person or organization behind the argument. The meat industry isn't exactly an innocent bystander if you want to follow the money...

You clearly have a lot of knowledge in this area, but this line of thinking and defense of your argument is intellectually lazy and more than a little ironic. The money supporting and pushing the agenda of the meat industry is massive beyond compare.

Anyway, enough threadjacking.

Work out sounds stifling to me.
Get moving ...enjoy the day and your health well you are able.
Eat what pleases you not someone else.
Every culture has exceptional physiques built by vastly different foods and diets.
Honestly so much information out there and much of it self serving.
Any activity is better than none.

Tried deadlifting 275lbs(I’m about 175). Grip wouldn’t hold. Only got 3 reps. Disappointed but a few months back couldn’t hit 200lbs though.

I'm the same.

Switched to trap bar deadlifts about 2 years ago and am NOT looking back. I find the grip to be a total non-issue now.

Not wading into the vegan/meat debate, but this really can't be said enough: knock out processed, sugary food from your diet.

what grip are you using? mixed, hook, double overhand? I'd recommend using straps and doing other things to help build your grip, don't miss out on quality reps if grip is the issue. Id also recommend chalk, if your gym does not allow it....find a new gym :p

other things to help your grip; static holds with the barbell+weight, plate pinches and farmer carries

Mixed grip. But it’s been nearly 2 weeks since i did deadlifts and i did 8 reps of 245 then. Actually did that today on the second set. Probably just aimed a bit too high.

If your grip is giving out and you're actually doing deads for hypertrophy purposes for your posterior chain just use straps.
