No, because the oilers would want established talent for Nail. They have plenty young talented kids. Kreider, Miller, Skjei would be the inverse of what they wanted, irregardless of value.

I would guess that the Oilers would ask for McDonagh. When NYR said no, they would want Staal or Del Zotto plus.

Yeah makes no sense from Oilers pov to ask for Miller, Kreider and Skjei, they really needs to sort their defense out and none of them will do any good for them.

Pick up Staubitz! Plays harder, physical, gritty, will play harder than half the guys in the bottom six. Cant score but neither can the guys NYR signed to score.

Garroich is slightly better than Eklund as a source. That being said I'm not opposed to the idea.

How does 1.2mil in cap space mean something is brewing...

I wouldn't be surprised to see something go down this week. MDZ/Girardi + Kreider + pick for a top 6 forward. This team needs a shake up, but I'd hold off on the total rebuild for now.

Surprised you feel that way. Its not exactly a prime situation to walk into, especially with the injuries.

When a regular playoff team with a similar roster loses each game by 5 goals the coach is going no matter what his contract is.

Brooklyn, of course
Gaborik was the only offensive threat on the team. He needs a playmaking center so he doesn't have to do it all himself.

Rangers sign Richards.

Richards and Gabby have no chemistry. This team still isn't scoring goals. Winning games 2-1 is so boring. If we had elite scoring we beat the devils in the ECF.

Rangers trade for Rick Nash.

Wahhh we have no depth now, the Nash trade ruined their unity and role players. This team needs more depth. Gaborik sucks now, he's old and slower. Trade him.

Rangers trade Gaborik for Depth.

Wtffffff this team sucks, they have no heart, no identity, they aren't scoring goals. They need more offense. The bottom 6 is abysmal. They need to trade for an elite scoring winger. Vanek and Kane could be available.

Rangers do exactly what you would expect and the cycle continues.

How can anyone honestly believe that trading away more assets for "established" scoring wingers is going to fix this hockey team? Adding a legit top-6 goal scorer is not going to fix the AHL caliber bottom 6, and glut of tweeners who aren't good enough to be top-6 players, and aren't good enough at bottom 6 roles to play there either. The team isn't healthy. There is no possible way to evaluate this team as it stands until it is 100% healthy. The only thing that is for sure right now is the bottom-6 looks like **** outside Boyle, and maybe Moore when he isn't taking stupid face-off penalties.

Pyatt, Poopalot, and Powe need to go. Zuccarello is not far off from joining that list. The problem is they don't have any replacements. All of the prospects in Hartford outside maybe Haley, Hrivik, and Lindberg project to be top-6 players. Kristo, Miller, Kreider, Fast, top-6. Lindberg and Hrivik are right on the cusp of being 2nd liners if they reach their ceiling.

For me right now there is no definitive answer to fix this team, especially until they are healthy. Trading DelZotto will be a mistake until they have a proper replacement for him. No one in Hartford is replacing his minutes or production. John Moore has a lot to prove.

Well said--anything done on the trade front will only create another hole and the ship is sinking already.

By the way, love your "misspelling" of Pouliot!:naughty:

It will just be another excuse by the Buffoon from Banff to buy himself more time. Notice how the coach is always the face of the Ranger organization?

Sather has clearly endeared himself to Dolan. They are cut from the same cloth -- 2 big shots who don't know as much as they think they do.

Sather is 70. When does the owner suggest it might be time to go enjoy retirement?

There was also some speculation that Florida would be selling their players? Fleischmann anyone? Cap hit is obviously 4.5M so would need to make room for that but he is LW :dunno:

I just don't see the point in trading Kreider, who is rated is the highest/best prospect by the NYR organization and most NYR reporters are seeming wowed by him. Has it taken longer than expected for him to develop, yes it has, but if he can fit and stay at some point this season, maybe this time up in the NHL or another time this season, then that is excellent news for this team. You can sign him to a very cheap bridge contract for 2-3 years after this season where he may take that top 6 spot for a very cheap price tag. That would be huge cap space wise moving forward.

Considering we won't have enough $$ to sign all our FA's at the end of the year (Hank, Callahan, Girardi and Stralman- especially the first 3), I can see Girardi being traded at some point during the year. However, I wouldn't do it now, since he's probably playing the worst hockey of his career, however, he's not the only player wetting the bed so far...
What is very clear, is the fact that this team seriously lacks high end talent, especially up front, to compete with the real cup contenders. It's ridiculous that this team continually has problems scoring 3 goals a game, year after year...

Florida looking to move Versteeg and Goc maybe we should inquire their price. Florida would want picks/prospects in return I would assume.
