I don't think there's any question that Weber will get in...
Yeah, he's a lock.

Perry is part of the triple gold club also he has a Hart and Rocket Richard trophy. Then you can throw 2 NHL first teams on top of it. He may not have a ton of points but his hardware screams HHOF.Why is perry a yes? Just because of his one fluke season? One of which he never even came close to ever matching again in his career or before it.
He is 36 years old, and just this season cracked 800 points in 1050 games played.
Kovy- Honestly would be fine with him going in, he was one of the best players in the league for a good stretch, but he won't make it
From 2003/2004 to 2008/2009 he had the 2nd most points, and the most goals in the league. I know a bunch of guys broke into the league in 05/06, but that's still impressive. Was he though? Or was he just one of the best goal scorers?
It seems funny how often it has to be reminded its the hockey hall of fame not NHL.
I dont see how Kovalchuk doesn't make it by a long shot. But people say if he didn't leave he would get in. He won 2 cups, a Olympic gold as best player in tourney, won a scoring title in the khl, and won a best in the playoffs award. He only boosted his hhof case. And coming back the last 2 years might of switched away some of the bad attitudes about him.
What is this way over the top view based on? They've inducted non nhlers in more recent times and are not trying to be so narrow focused. You would be delusional to think that it is not a nhl based hall of fame. It might have the words hockey hall of fame in it, but it is 100% run by the nhl and its sports writers. Which means that nhl awards and production is king.
The only other credentials that are not nhl related they will take into account are the olympics and iihf run tournamemts.
And i would guarantee that kovys olympic gold will not be taken to highly because he did not do it at a best on best tournament and one where nhl'ers did not participate in.

Is nhl the primary focus yes, however, They absolutely do account for accolades in other leagues.

He will not make it to 900 points. He is at 800 right now and he can barely stick in the nhl already. He won't or he will barely make it to 400 goals also.
I'm confused, how is Weber a lock to get in, but Letang isn't? Letang has a better PPG in his career than Weber in the playoffs and regular season, I guess you can say Weber is better defensively, but we know the NHL never looks at defensive play when it comes to defensemen by the past Norris trophy winners. If anything Letang probably has a higher chance of getting in because of his Stanley Cup wins.
Not that I disagree he wont make the HoF but he wasnt a 4th liner on that WJC teamAnd sooner or later that hart stuff is going to have to end because then you get complimentary players like perry that has 1 fluke season in his career and the media is stupid enough to vote for him gets him into the hall of fame on a pretty pedestrian career.
He won world jr as a 4th liner on the most stacked world junior team in the history of the tournament. Only reason he made the olympics is because of his chemistry at the time with getzlaf.
Every one talks about the hall of very good, that is where perry fits in. He has yet to crack 400 goals, will never make it to 1000 points, and will be actually lucky to make it to 400 goals also.

Marleau - Not a HOF worthy player, but I suppose he does if he breaks the games record.
Perry - Good enough resume, but not a HOF worthy player
Getzlaf - Yes
Kovalchuk - No, but probably could have had he'd stayed in the league.
Weber - Borderline
Letang - I wouldn't
Doughty - Lock
Burns - I wouldn't
MAF - Shouldn't be anywhere near HOF in reality
Rask - Likely
Quick - Yes
Wait Doughty is a lock and Weber borderline? Come on man
Im laughing at everyone saying Perry will get in and not Kovalchuk.
