A bit old...
But I stumbled upon this again...
And it still cracks me up.

The look...
Still gives me the chills.

Ahh baseball...
Never change.

Agreed. Also, if you're straining your vocal chords that badly, then you're not singing correctly.

That is the part I am not too sure of.
She is able to hit all the right notes...
And she shows great technique...
But it is not effortless...
Like Whitney Houston.

It may just be physical limitations.
Her voice is naturally deep...
And she is forcing herself to hit all the high notes.

About 4 hours into my shift (working concession at the movies) I took someone's order, grabbed a popcorn bag and asked if they wanted popcorn in it.

I had meant to ask if they had wanted butter, but royally ****ed up. It was really dead at the time so all of my fellow employees got a nice laugh.

We also need to start brainstorming titles for the next OT thread since we are less than 100 posts away.

In other news, I played a few hours of "The Last of Us" and really enjoyed it. Will hopefully get some more playing time in before work tomorrow, or today I guess it is

Very engaging story that has me hooked. Also it has some neat, but simple enough game controls and mechanics.

I'm probably picking it up tomorrow. It's been so hard for me to avoid spoilers/videos.

As for the next thread title, maybe something allergy related...or embarrassing work stories edition.

I thought that "butter" liquid death had been banned from theatres?

It's a shame that her singing style forces her to belt all her notes. You can ruin your voice by doing that to notes you can't hit in your chest voice. I have a pretty deep voice (for a female) too, and I have to flip to my head voice (the soprano sounding part of your voice) to sing some of the higher notes.

It's cool.
I am pretty sure you caught it right away...
It is just one of those days.

Blue Jays with another impressive win. Playoffs don't seem quite as crazy as they did 2 weeks ago.

Nope, and I cringe when people ask for extra butter. 10 squirts of a butter pump

Pretty much

Missed the game today, but saw the score - loving this streak. This is the Blue Jays team we thought we were getting at the start of the year, well, maybe not 11 straight wins kind of team, but one that can challenge and make the playoffs. Dickey needs to find his game, and we'll be set.

Yeah...
The bat is just sizzling right now...
And the bullpen is pitching lights out.
While the pitching is not as hot...
The starters are able to go deep...
Which reduces the bullpen's workload and keep the arms fresh...
And it contributes to recent success by the bullpen.
Plus...
They are able to get timely pitching gems...
When the bats die down.

Wang is a terrific addition.
Always love his game...
And I am glad to see that he is finally healthy.
This is a glimpse of his former self...
The one that won back-to-back 19 games.
While the velocity dropped...
His pitches have good movement...
And with the way he mixes in other pitches now...
He becomes less predictable and more effective.
It is great to see his evolution.

A win streak this long requires skill and luck.
I am glad to see the Jays have both right now...
And they rely more on skill than luck to win.

Still...
Despite the recent win streak...
The Jays are still a little behind.
Even if they play .580 to .600 ball the rest of the way...
They will still only win about 90 to 92 games.
With how strong the AL East is...
Which is indicated by how every team in the division is over .500...
And how they have a winning percentage of about .571 against every other team outside the AL East...
It makes it difficult to decide if they want to be buyers or sellers...
And it is difficult to predict how many wins is needed to win the division...
Or the wildcard.

Regardless...
It is fun to watch the Jays right now.
This is a difficult stretch...
With the next 10 games against AL East rivals and the Detroit Tigers...
But they are certainly off to a great start.
I just hope they do not peak too early...
And that they are just catching fire.
I would not think about playoffs until late August or early September.

Dickey have been weird all year.
One game he will be his Cy Young self...
And the next he becomes a pitching coach who tees off to the batters.
He had been lucky that the Jays give him such big run support.

But...
If I remember correctly...
I think he started to catch fire in July last year...
So hopefully that will be the case this year too.

Jose Reyes will be back soon as well - huge addition to a team that has already won 11 straight. Kawasaki, sadly, may be sent down though - love his game, as does the Rogers Center - Ka-wa-saki!

Apparently Dickey's back (IIRC) isn't 100%, so that is obviously going to hinder his pitching. I'm willing to give Dickey time before judgement.

Yeah...
Unfortunately Kawasaki's contract makes him the only candidate to drop...
As he still have options.

Good news is that Reyes serves the same purpose as Kawasaki...
And it will be great to have a lead off man who batted around .400 before he got hurt.
Even if that drops...
And it probably will...
He is still a career .300 hitter.

With him back...
It will be Reyes-Cabrera-Bautista-Encarnacion-Lind at the top of the order.
Love to see what these guys can do now.

Getting Reyes back is going to be huge. Don't forget, Lawrie is also missing, so getting these two guys back would be massive additions to an already rolling Jays lineup. Going to make the Jays a deeper lineup, and more hitting power down the lineup.

Ahh...
That could be it.
It probably is not too serious...
Because he still moves around in the dugout...
And he is joking with his teammates.

I don't believe it's serious, just that it's affecting his game play is all. May need extra days off the rest and such to get healed. I really hope this is the problem, and not something else.

True.
But Lawrie will be out for a little while yet.
I think he just got out of his cast...
And he has not started any baseball activities yet.

So glad to have Bonifacio and Izturis though.
Despite not hitting well...
They can play multiple positions relatively well...
And they give Gibbons options to shift his players around so that nothing is lost defensively.
In fact...
After the early season parade of errors...
Bonifacio had settled down defensively...
And with how well Izturis plays at 3rd base...
They may even be better defensively now.
Lawrie can take his time to recover.

Yeah, Lawrie did just come out of his cast, but hopefully he can start baseball activates, or rehabbing soon. But like you said, no rush right now, since Izturis has been not bad. I think he's been coming around, especially lately, so that's a good sign. It's sure nice to have guys like Izturis and Kawasaki to fill in for injured players like Lawrie and Reyes - shows our depth.

Lawrie also did not hit well this year...
So it may be good to just let him take his time.

Izturis had raised his average by 20 points in the last 10 days or so...
So I think you are right.
Hopefully this is a true turnaround.
