Should it go beside his quote of Reinhart being a top 4 D man.I'm gonna frame this and stick it to my wall.
I would legitimately trade McDavid over Draisaitl right now.
Seems like exactly the last thing we need, Klefbom was tied for 12th in the league in PP points for d-men (25th in PP points/60). Obviously our PP was on the higher end with the talent we have up front and I'm sure a PP specialist could do even better, I know most people want the upgrade cause Klefbom big shot disappeared and they want a threat to score from the blueline, but even a high end powerplay d-man nets about 5 PP goals per season (Klefbom had 2 in a shortened season) are we going to spend 5+ million to chase 3 more PP goals. We also have internal replacements for Klef on the PP in Bouchard and Bear who can legitimately fight for the spot.I just want a PP DMAN. It opens up so many options for us.
I’ve said this before in here, Tippett has said in the past that he keeps Klefbom on PP1 because that’s what Mcdavid/Drai want. Klefbom is predictable and Mcdavid is the quarterback unlike most teams who use the D. The PP isn’t built around collapsing on a big shot from the point, it’s built on the cross ice passes for the most part.Seems like exactly the last thing we need, Klefbom was tied for 12th in the league in PP points for d-men (25th in PP points/60). Also does other poster not realize the PP was literally borderline record setting this past year? Why would you change anything about it
Too slow. And the game has sped up even more since he left. He'd get killed out there.Do we still have ]Hartikainen's rights?
I liked this guy when he was here
If we land OEL and a quality back-up goaltender there is a decent chance that's all we can afford, we'll likely be choosing between projects and older players in decline. We need guys who we know are going to show up. No projects. Done with that.
Credibility factor just dropped below zero.I would legitimately trade McDavid over Draisaitl right now.
Yes D who are better at transitioning the puck I can agree with.PP QB is not the need - a good puck retrieving d-man who can get control of the puck quickly and get it to the forwards is what is needed
Because adding a legitimate threat from the point who can 1 shot from the blue line in would only make the pp even that much better? Adding something the opposition happens to worry about is never a bad thing.I’ve said this before in here, Tippett has said in the past that he keeps Klefbom on PP1 because that’s what Mcdavid/Drai want. Well, Larsson typically doesn't score own goals.
It's more of an "off the wall" quoteI'm gonna frame this and stick it to my wall.
One on unit two would be nice but let's let Bear, Nurse or Bouchard figure that one out. What's more important is finding forwards for that unit.PP QB is not the need - a good puck retrieving d-man who can get control of the puck quickly and get it to the forwards is what is needed
Statistically speaking, our power play is very unlikely to get any “better”. You seem to think that it’s a point shot that would make it that much better, but that could also make it that much worse, trying to push plays to the point, rather than to Mcdavid/Drai.Because adding a legitimate threat from the point who can 1 shot from the blue line in would only make the pp even that much better? I'm not sure this is true. Klefbom, Nurse, Bear and Jones all possess sufficient skating ability. Even Larsson contributes to the offensive cycle when it gets established. What we don't really have is that real point threat that changes the angle quickly to get good shots through. But it's not entirely necessary. Our defencemen to this point, do not have the skating ability to move deep into the offensive end to make plays and help out the forwards and then recover to come back and defend when necessary. Maybe Jones and Broberg can change that.
DING DING DING. This for a million dollars. THIS is what we DESPERATELY NEEDPP QB is not the need - a good puck retrieving d-man who can get control of the puck quickly and get it to the forwards is what is needed
I wouldn't be opposed to this if he signed for under $2.5m. He can play multiple positions and slide anywhere throughout the roster. He's a good secondary PP option and he was a volume shooter once upon a time. Only a year removed from reasonably solid production. I don't get the hate for the guy.LW for Connor. Do it up, 1 year show-me
Our PP was historically good and chances are teams will study it and it won’t be as effective as is again next year, similar to how they took away Letestu’s one timer years ago.
Adding in a legit threat from the point will cause teams to have to defend differently. McD, Drai, and Nuge would still find cross ice lanes this past season even when the PK wouldn’t bother covering Klef. If the PK has to spread out more to cover the point threat, either Neal/Chiasson are more open at net front, or a bigger lane is opened in the slot. Adding a threat from the point may not make our PP better than it was this past season, but it could very well make sure our PP stays as effective as it was this past season.
