Slepyshev scored 10 points last year. He's in no way a guy you lean on in either of those roles. If he earns his way on, fine. But he has shown nothing at this level to inspire confidence in the idea of him in a scoring role.
He was never given much of an opportunity to be on the second line either. He was usually in the bottom 6. I'm fine if he's on the 3rd line of course. He has talent and the i.q for the 2nd or 3rd line today, now I don't expect him to be a regular 2nd liner either due to the depth of the wing situation in Edmonton now.
Injuries do happen and players get cold so we will see him in a top 6 role this upcoming season either way.
