It will be Studs and Kuhlman for Ritichie and Kase

Agreed. Though I'd like to see Studnicka flourish. He's the furthest thing from liability and if he gets feeling it.... can be an X-factor in a playoff series.

Kuhlman is kind of like a RH Kuraly.... Minus about 4 inches. Complete non-factor unless he's killing penalties and winning footraces all over the ice. He can be that guy. Leash is short though......

Still think Coyle is the real #2 C. Better 5 on 5 player than Krejci IMO.

Dude , no wonder your not ready for hockey, you even missed most of summer.
Naaah, It's the second one on our second floor. Instead of having one 10k btu doing the whole floor, I installed a second (10k btu) unit to spread out the cooling/efficiency.

The Bs rely on precision passing, skill plays, and a well-tuned PP for a lot of their goals. I am assuming those things will be what come last as the players get back to speed. Also, it is clear that these guys are not into "take no prisoners" mode yet either. Philly was hot as hell at the end of the season, and seem to be picking up where they left off. The Bs did not lose to a cruddy team today. Then throw in that the Bs number one goalie was not between the pipes, and a couple of the late season acquisitions were out as well. The first line has not looked great at all the past two games, but everyone here knows it is only a matter of time before those guys get up to speed. I'll be worried if they are still playing like this in game 2 of the actual playoffs. I am not the least bit concerned after a pointless exhibition where there was nothing to gain by winning, and then the first real game back. They'll pull things together when it matters.

Saw the highlights. Defense was very weak. Too many odd men rushes.

Krug and Carlo were not good. Chara had close to his
worst game of calendar 2020 and he in particular needs
to play every game of the round robin to get his legs
and timing back.

McAvoy, Grez and Lauzon were not far off
from their normal play.

Message to the BRUINS

Don't tell me I waited almost 5 months and this is all you got.

Their main issues to me are

1) Chara, Krejci and Bergeron's
ability to ramp up after an "off season".

2) Rask and his illness is a wildcard.

I don't have any great concern about Pastrnak and
Marchand getting up to speed. I thought McAvoy,
Grez and Coyle all had decent games for true
regulars.

Disappointing but do I really give a f*** about these round robin games ? Not really. I’ll be concerned if they get blown out by Tampa and Washington but think they will be competitive in those games .

I would be concerned these gages, there is a good chance that if you finish 4th in the round robin you'll draw Pittsburgh in round 1.... not exactly a team you want to deal with if your not playing your best hockey

A look at the advanced numbers at 5v5 per line last night. Bottom 6 definitely had a better night than the top 6. 3rd line seemed to generate the most opportunities, but it was the 4th line that cashed in.

Tampa Bay and Washington will crush the Bruins if they play this way.
I agree. But its way too early. The couple games the Bruins have played they have no offensive pressure, and the goalies have let them down. Theyve also given up way too many odd man rushes.

It can only get better for them

Lets hope you are right, because they are not going far playing the way they have the past two games.

The Bruins simply crapped the bed for those past 2 games. I for one do not believe that they can just turn it on when the games mean something. They are an older team and cannot just turn it up a notch or two when they feel like it.

They have been outclassed in these two games and not even competitive. Halak did not look very good, Kuhlman served no real purpose and Bjork was missing in action. Krug, Chara and Carlo looked very rusty. The top line gave no real effort or were just plain outplayed.

Things will have to really improve in the next two games or they will be gone shortly. You may feel slighted by the league for having to play these games but get over it.

I don't think the Bruins have been practicing enough. When teams went to full roster training camp a couple weeks ago, I noticed that Cassidy was giving days off after just two team practices. They rarely, if ever, practiced three days in a row. I can understand that during the season, or even in training camp before an 82 game grind, but not in this unique scenario where you need to ramp up so quickly and all the guys are completely fresh and healthy. Even high school teams practice 5-6 days in a row at the beginning of a season, so why not professionals?

the B's just look rusty and the pace isn't there. Other teams look far closer to full speed. We should be practicing today and tomorrow (what else is there to do?). We'll see what happens.

I understand that Chara, Bergy and Krejci are older players but the rest of the team is fairly young, especially our D. These are just practice games, to me that is an advantage over plunging straight into a round that has elimination. Look at the results around the league - the teams that should not have been in the playoffs are winning their games. The pressure is on the top teams to perform, one loss and you are two away from going back to the golf course. It is a brutal way to start. I was panicking a bit but after a lot of thought, I think this is the best way for the Bruins to ease into the first round.

Only good things to say:

1. It's not a do-or-die round. There is time, but not much, to straighten things out. It stinks that while most of the games I've seen have been close at the end, ours was a runaway.

2. I had a nice plate of wings and rings(along with half a dozen pints) at my preferred Bruins spot, Buff's(which is now taking...credit cards. The Citizens Bank space across the street is now empty, an unfortunate trend, i.e., the Rox Diner in Newtonville).

From a relative standpoint, the team was better when Bjork was on the ice.

CF% Rel - 1st
SF% Rel - 3rd
xGF% Rel - 4th
SCF% Rel - 2nd

Take it one step further, the team was just better when the 3rd line of Bjork-Coyle-Kuhlman were on the ice last night (see previous post on the line analytics).

I got a simpler explanation here. Bruins are a possession team, and they bumbled pucks on the same plays they bury. Its the only thing that scares me, because of their style can the oil the machine quick enough to get back at it before its too late.

Pittsburgh looked off to me in their first game against Montreal despite a ton of shots . I agree they aren’t an ideal team to open up with but the Bruins matchup well against them . I think we see a much better Bruins team on Wednesday.

Maybe the problem is the area where we attempted a good amount of shots from (yellow/orange area) was out at the blueline.
