True, but unless he's good enough to play top pairing minutes in Rockford, they probably keep him in London. This doesn't lock him into the Knights. We could still see a situation like Roslovic who signed with London, but was good enough at the Jets training camp, they sent him to the AHL.
I wouldn't go to that extreme. 18 year old Blake Wheeler would have been killed in pro-hockey at that age (he went to the USHL for his D+1). There are a bunch of other examples of guys who would probably have issues. It seems like a disaster to have put Alex Nylander in pro-hockey at 18, and its not like we have seen a great return on rushing guys like Milano and Honka into it.If a player can't play in the SHL or AHL the season after being drafted, they aren't worth a top 10 pick.
That's absolutely not true. A player can be a top ten pick because they're close to NHL ready OR because they have potential. Boqvist has the potential obviously, so he deserved to go where he went, even if he's not quite ready to play against men.If a player can't play in the SHL or AHL the season after being drafted, they aren't worth a top 10 pick.

Also, the kid is still 17 for another month. One of the youngest players in the draft.
If he excels in training camp and the prospects camp, he'll go to the AHL. But again, he's 17. Not easy to play in such a competitive league.I was talking about the principle. I think Boqvist should be playing in the SHL or AHL.

He could play in the SHL, but his team is loaded on defense and he wouldn't be put in a position to succeed. OHL just makes sense right now for him.
He'll be 18 at the start of the season, and I think he should've been playing in the SHL last season.

They'll play on the same line. Similar minutes.I think London could be a good destination for him, but I wonder how the minutes will be shared between him and Bouchard as they both fill a similar role. I guess good news for Bouchard and the Oilers though, this would allow him to work more on his defensive game and also not having to play 30+ minutes a game. Or maybe this makes it more alluring for the Oilers keep him in the NHL? Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Boqvist supposedly favors playing his offside.both are RD
Love this prospect. Boqvist has quite an uncanny ability to transition from offense to defense with his elite skating and really hard, crisp passing. The way he weaves through the neutral zone and finds the perfect lane to attack almost every time speaks volumes to his extremely high hockey IQ. Where he really does his damage though is with his cannon of a shot and cross ice passes. Both of these tools in his arsenal are precise and strong and he gets them off without a second thought. One of the best wrist shots in the draft and his slap shot is very very good as well.
I think his realistic timetable would be the 2020/21 season although I wouldn't be surprised if he only needed one year in London before making the jump. He needs to build quite a bit of strength and work on his defensive game but he'll be able to do both quite well with London. How long time do you think he has to develop before he joins NHL?
Who does London have coming in offensively? With a one-two punch of these elite scoring defenseman, they are going to need someone to give the puck to.
Pu is gone, very possible Thomas is gone, and there’s a chance Formenton is gone.
Foudy and crowd is not much talent even for a junior team. Tkachuk coming in could help, but that’s very unlikely.
