Doubt itIndeed, Wilson can and likely will sue them for libel. The due process was executed and despite this, the Rangers keep maligning him.

You’re right about the goalie charging. You should be head of player safety you’d fit right in.Don't these clowns employ someone who is notorious for running goalies? They just come off as whiners in this whole thing.
I sadly agree. A lesson needs to be dispensed here, and if the league isn't going to do it, then take matters in to their own hands and every Rangers player hunt down Wilson on the ice. What's the worse that can happen? You get fined? Well worth the money payed if they injure Wilson, and the more significant the injury, again, sadly, the better, as the rest of the league players will actually be safer for it.If I'm the Rangers I would call up as many goons as I could for the next game. I mean what's the worst thing that could happen? You get fined?
I mean isn't this the reason we have the repeat offender rule?People are only outraged because it's Tom Wilson. If this was practically anyone else it's not even news. I thought maybe he'd get 1 game for targeting buchnevichs head while he was defenseless but only for the fact that he has a reputation.
Is it major though? Debateable.
I'd say the contrary. The Rangers could argue that anything that happens to Wilson now is a necessary response due to the DOPS failure to adequately punish him. They can't act like they're disappointed in DOPS for not suspending someone for goonery and then do the EXACT thing they called out the DOPS for not punishing. It diminishes the message. Either put out the press release OR tell your players that the only thing that matters tomorrow is that Wilson leaves the ice on a stretcher. Can't do both.
If the Rangers really want to send a message, they should refuse to play tomorrow.Tomorrows game is going to be interesting.
I'm certainly not saying I advocate for that. What I am saying is that if the league can't discipline it's players the players will and we have seen what that eventually leads to. Perhaps this will be the catalyst.I sadly agree. Teams can be fined much more, expect closer to a million dollar fine.If the league objects they can fine the Rangers $5 000
That will show 'em!
I remember San Jose got popped for like $250K for putting out a statement that they disagreed with one of Raffi Torres' suspensions but outside of that I don't ever recall seeing something this scathing. Can anyone recall such a open, scathing rebuke of a league decision by one of the franchises?
Listen, I think Wilson is a POS clown, but this is going down a slippery slope. The organization could've said they're not happy, maybe a review of the DOPS is in order, etc, but to call for the ousting of Parros while not having any other grievances with the DOPS prior to this. (Correct me if I'm wrong) Just Silly. Total 2021 BS move.
Soon enough the scrums/fights will be out of the game. A lot of emotion will be lost. I'm sure we/I will move on, and I'm sure many will be pleased, but I for one love the edge hockey brings. I hope it doesn't get lost.
Even with all that said, I think Wilson should've been punished harder. Its just is a slippery slope because pokes, punches and even takedown happen post whistle a lot. NHL is in a bind now. Ugh.
I think fans of 30 other teams probably agree with that statement. A $5000 fine is an absolute joke.
Not even a drop in the bucket for one of the largest, most financially secure NHL original 6 teams.Teams can be fined much more, expect closer to a million dollar fine.
Drop in the bag for the Rangers. Taking away draft picks would be far worse.Teams can be fined much more, expect closer to a million dollar fine.

No shit, that has nothing to do with my post though, simply pointing out they can and will be fined more than 5kDrop in the bag for the Rangers. Taking away draft picks would be far worse.
The fact that it is Wilson makes the outrage justifiable.People are only outraged because it's Tom Wilson. If this was practically anyone else it's not even news. I thought maybe he'd get 1 game for targeting buchnevichs head while he was defenseless but only for the fact that he has a reputation.
