Who was the first goalie to be replaced during a game in NHL history, and when did happen?
On Dec. 19, 1917, opening night of the 1917-18 season, in the game between the Wanderers and Toronto, Toronto goalie Sammy Hebert, after giving up 5 goals in the first period, was replaced by Art Brooks. Brooks also surrendered 5 goals, and the Wanderers won the game 10-9.
The second instance of a goalie replacing a goalie was rather more famous, and it didn't happen until the 1925-26 season.
