I searched and found a few Q & A trivia threads, but I think it would be easier if there was a thread where random trivia facts could be posted for the amusement and education of board members. So, here is my random trivia to kick things off.

The record for the most one-game players used by a team in an NHL season is 4, by the Montreal Canadiens in 1942-43 (Ernie LaForce, Bobby Lee, Frank Mailley and Irving McGibbon), and the New York Rangers in 1943-44 (Henry Dyck, James Jamieson, Bob McDonald and Lloyd Mohns).

World War II had an impact on the NHL, with many top players enlisting, and therefore unable to play, resulting in teams using players who normally wouldn't have made it to the NHL in a "normal" season.

Who would like to post one of their favourite trivia facts?

There are 5 current franchises who have never had a player score 100 points in a season. You may be surprised with one of them.

No, Yes, No, Yes, Yes.

Atlanta had Hossa with 100 in 2007

Dallas (formerly Minnesota Northstars) had a few. Bobby Smith, Dino Ciccarelli.

Columbus, Nashville and Minnesota Wild haven't had one. Still missing two franchises.

Add Florida and New Jersey.

Hossa had 100 points for Atlanta.

Correct. How many people would have guessed New Jersey? Strange isn't it? They've had the franchise for a log time and no one even going back to the Kansas City Scouts to the Colorado Rockies had 100 points. Patrick Elias I am guessing is closest with 95 or 96 back in 2001. How can that be? Then again, the Leafs are pretty darn close to having that themselves. Save for two seasons by Gilmour and Sittler each and there are none. Montreal, only one season since 1980 and that was Mats Naslund in 1986. Again, very strange from a team like that.

I don't even think New Jersey's franchise has ever had a 50 goal scorer.

Especially NJ who have had there share of high draft picks in the 80's. Montreal got ultra defensive in the 80's and I wouldn't be surprised if Lou followed their lead in developing the Devils. After all, Lemaire ended up coaching there.

You're right. Brian Gionta with 48 in 2006. How is that possible? Now, I am not kidding when I say this, the franchise single season leader for assists is Scott Stevens with 60 in 1994. 60! Just bizarre.

Hap Holmes and Jack Marshall are the only players in history to win 4 Cups with 4 different franchises.

Holmes: Toronto Blueshirts (1914), Seattle Metropolitans (1917), Toronto Arenas (1918), Victoria Cougars (1925).

Marshall: Winnipeg Victorias (1901), Montreal HC (1902, 1903), Montreal Wanderers (1909, 1910), Toronto Blueshirts (1914).
