Real winners: San Diego for getting the best player in the draft, and a pressing need, at 3rd.

Titans should still be able to get a decent tackle at 15 with either Conklin or Stanley.

There isn't a clear cut #1 pick this year, IMO. Just like a couple of years ago for Kansas City and they were stuck with Eric Fisher. As someone else stated, the Rams moving back to LA played a part in this as well. Not only did they want to make a splash, they needed a QB.

Tennessee made the right move by trading the pick. However, as history has shown, you need to cash in those extra draft picks to make the trade worthwhile.

That's why the Herschel Walker trade is still remembered and the RGIII trade is all but forgotten.

If the Rams get a franchise QB, no one will care about the price. I'm just not sure either top QB prospect in this draft is going to turn out to be that. Snead and Fisher should never work in the NFL again if they don't make the playoffs after two blockbuster draft trades.

I really like the move for the Titans. They can add a lot of talent and depth to their roster if they use all the picks or move up to get a top prospect they really like. If Mariota lives up to his potential they could really good in 2-3 years.

100% agreed

Nobody bemoans giving up two firsts, a third, and a fifth for Eli Manning.

But the RG3 trade? Will take decades to be forgotten.

The Giants got a franchise QB along side 2 Super Bowl championships and counting. If the Rams get a franchise QB out of this then good for them...

Rams need to make a splash again in the LA market.

If they were in St. Louis they don't make this trade. It's a publicity deal.

Head coaching record
Regular season: 165–150–1 (.524)
Postseason: 5–6 (.455)
Career: 170–156–1 (.521)

Agreed. There is no Andrew Luck in this draft. The poor keep making themselves poorer. Weakening your team does not make it more glamorous for playing in LA. Jeff Fisher is barely over .500 for his career and over rated. It's sad.

And spared having to root for Phil Rivers.

Dumb trade for the Rams unless the QB they get turns out to be something. Sure helps the Titans a lot though.

Not really though. This trade highlights how QB starved the league is and when you get one, they stay forever. Its clearly worth the risk to the Rams, because if they stand pat, they still don't have a QB and the management/coaching is gone anyway because they aren't going to win enough without one. Might as well go down with what you believe to be is a guy you can win with. Great haul for Tennesse though, with a franchise QB already there, they can build something truly special if it goes right.

Giants would have taken Roethlisberger, so they probably would have been fine either way. Probably still my favorite draft day though. Ernie Accorsi held the future of three QBs (and three franchises) in his hands.

-everyone, on the Rams, in 2012.

Rams still got no one to throw to and zero picks to draft someone and no money to spend on anyone. They better keep Keenum around with Greg Robinson guarding the blind side. The Rams are built to run the ball.

What I remember from that draft specifically is Roethlisberger's agent looking like a complete moron at the draft table. He was whinning for a good 90 minutes before Pittsburgh picked him.

Its not so much that they traded it...its that they gave Tennessee all those picks.

Not necessarily sure Rivers would have been a downgrade though. The first SB was a lucky play but that defense had a lot more to do with it then who was the QB of the team.

There isn't really much of a 'football' justification for the move, there's no Manning on the board this year, there's not even an Andrew Luck type QB prospect on the board. And a franchise can very realistically be set back several years by betting on the wrong guy to be their franchise QB. The Rams have already been through a cycle of trying to build around a supposed franchise QB who's turned out to be anything but.

While true, Eli has also never had the likes of LT, Gates and VJax on the same team.

The NFL Network special on that draft is great.

Outside of Victor Cruz for 2 seasons, and OBJ the last two, Eli has never had any elite offensive options. Like the poster above stated, Rivers has had LT, Gates, VJax etc. Still I think 11th all time in yards.

Big Ben is the absolute perfect fit for the Steelers. He just seems like their ideal QB.
