I think you have to look a little more with that because POJ is playing for us NOW and is killing it.

If Zuck+Rask for Kessel+JJ went through, it would be Addison being "real close" and POJ still with Arizona. It was Kessel refusing to wave did the Arizona trade take place which is how we got POJ. Obviously, JR wanted Zucker though and for good reason. So there was an extra cost, unfortunately...AFTER Galchenyuk crapped the bed for us, lol. So part of the cost was them taking Chucky as well.

Kessel, 1st, Addison for Zucker, POJ

Steep...but Zucker is doing well and POJ is killing it. Long term, who knows. I doubt JR even cared when the window is now. I do expect Addison to become a heck of a player for the Wild though.

Looking at it that way you're bang on. You win some you lsoe some, c'est la vie!
Addison was by far the prospect I was looking forward too, even before the WJ.

Next GM will move Tanev in a couple years. He is the energizer here and is always in demand. But POJ has upside here is skating, puck skills and has surprising strength on man to man coverage. Petts is not as good on all three elements. I move Petts for a pick/prospect or both. Cap space and Riikola, Matheson, POJ and hopefully Dumo is a decent LD depth. I do move Letang next year for cap space and bring in a RH D man who can be above average. At this point D depth and having solid D men with out the cap bang is what I want.

Shame we don’t have a GM bc I’d be pretty interested in Bennett.

I honestly don't know what to think of Bennett. On one hand, he's been a sub-30 point player in every year outside of his rookie year in the NHL. On the other hand, he has 13 points in his last 15 playoff games and 19 points in 30 career playoff games. I just don't understand how such an unproductive regular season player can ramp it up in the playoffs like Bennett has done in his career.

Maybe I'd swap McCann for him? But I'm mostly do that because I think Bennett brings more of what that 3rd line needs than McCann does, plus I've been concerned with what I've seen from McCann in the playoffs so far. I also think the Penguins are probably losing that trade in value.

Maybe McCann and Lafferty for Bennett and Kylington? Bennett adds some playoff production and playmaking to the 3rd line while Kylington adds another good skating LD.

They said they weren’t interested in trading him. They must like him because they said he can play whatever position he wants at the start of the season. He choose centre then quickly changed his mind lol.

He was the GM’s first ever pick too so maybe some blinders or ego come into it.

yeah it sounds like it’s heating up though. He’s not in the lineup tonight either.

Na, I wouldn’t make that trade. More interested in adding him for as little off roster as possible.

I don't really see where Bennett fits in unless you trade McCann. I don't think Bennett is really a center at the NHL level and Blueger has done really well as the 3C IMO.

Yea, he can play instead of Laff/Sceviour. Or you can scratch Jank.

Would be a small move to bolster bottom 6 imo. McCann for him makes it an expensive wash.

If there was a fake Pens trade damn rights I’d be posting it. Only if it was a bit crazy though

I said yesterday that McCann for Bennett could be a lesser version of Neal for Hornqvist in the sense that you might be giving up the better player, but you're getting something else you need more. And since you're giving up the better player, maybe you can get another piece, just hope it would be a pick instead of Spaling.

I wouldn't hate it, but also realize it could blow up in their faces if McCann puts it together like Rust did.

Fair comp.

But I think Bennett for me is about bringing in a guy who can help McCann get there. Can be like Tanev with better hands.

McCann-Blueger-Bennett
ZAR/OC-Jank-Tanev

is pretty solid.

Ain’t gonna happen tho, I could see Bennett getting a lot and a lame duck GM isn’t gonna move real assets.

Maybe I don't know Bennett's game well enough then. I thought he was just a higher pedigree Tanev than a playmaker to help McCann.

Addison was by far the prospect I was looking forward too, even before the WJ.

Not me, I thought Addison was going to be a bust. I wasn't impressed with him in camp. Addison could turn out but Rutherford did much better than him by adding Pettersson, Marino, and POJ who I think will all be better than Addison. Even Matheson has much better chance of being a good offensive defenseman in this league over Addison who I think is too small for his abilities to make it and if he does it will be as a 3rd pairing PP specialist.

I will take Zucker any day over a 1st and Addison which both will not come close to the player Zucker is. I will say the chances are very slim one does instead of won't. Love the 1st and Hallander for Kapanen deal also. I am not near as high on picks and prospects as most on these boards. Shown before Pens have had so much more talent added compared to what those picks and prospects have turned into and it is not even close. Unless it is a top 3 pick I could care less. The chances of a Franchise type player coming after that are slim and even then it is slim after pick 1. Once in a while you get a Malkin at number 2 but not often. That is the only picks I wouldn't want to lose. Players like Guentzel which is the next tier down don't change a franchise so adding a Kapanen with a pick possibly becoming a Guentzel 5 years from now doesn't scare me. Picks outside the top 10 have more than a 50% chance of being worse than a Kapanen or Zucker.

I feel like Pettersen's "goodness" is pretty much yet to be determined. He's got the top 4 potential, but I'm not sure he's realized it yet.

He played top 4 all last year in only his second full season. Heck, even in his rookie season he played many games in the top 4 and did a good job. No question that Pettersson is a top 4 defenseman. The only question is if he can get better and become either a top tier 2nd pairing defenseman or even the next Dumoulin type that can be a number 2.
