Damn, another wicked vintage flow
With his handedness would you expect him to have more on the other side then? I’m honestly surprised to see that he had even that much of them from the right too.

Very timely indeed!
Not only is it likely that he'll sign for under 10, it's certain. Quote me on this.I think it's priority to sign him now, it will save a lot in the long run. Would be fantastic to lock him up long term for under 10 mil but it's not likely.

Why is it so important to you that he gets paid crazy money? Are you getting a cut or something? You have a crystal ball or something?
His value definitely is 10m/year or rather 10m+/year. Goal scorers get paid and if you happen to be arguably best in that from your generation, even more so. Lets not forget we aren't talking about pure potential here and how that would reflect on the contract but also real figures and the 80 goals from his first two NHL seasons. That's far across the boundaries of hypothetical production moving forward. If the Jets threw a contract at him with less than that from the perspective of income alone it would be foolish of him to sign that. Then again, there are many other variables in play (such as also thinking what's the best interest for the team and what not) so he might take a discount if he feels he wants to stick around here. You don't believe me? Sure. Listen to this (start from the 9:50 mark):

If you think you're more knowledgeable than Bob McKenzie then well, sure fine we may as well leave it to that.

I'm not sure jets can afford going 10M. And let's not forget there are several RFA years in there too (four?). I would say it's extremely likely that some deal under 10M and long term will be signed - just not maximum term. If he was UFA he'd definitely have the potential to rake in well in excess of 10M/year.
Laine does not deserve ten based on his merits to this day.
Show me a player who knows what two-way ability means, and then we'll talk.
