Don’t really get this deal for Carolina. Was Dzingel struggling that badly?

He was the worst forward in Goals/60 from the start of last season through today. Dead last. He wasn't good enough to get consistent top 6 time and really isn't cut out to play 4th line. He was scratched a number of times last year and other than 2nd PP unit, wasn't getting much opportunity this year either.

Maybe Brindy mis-used him, but that's irrelevant because that's the only usage he was going to get in Carolina so it was better to move on from him.

Melnyk probably even saves on jersey, just pulls old one from shelve:laugh:

He’s gonna need a new number.

Dzingel wasn’t given much of a shot. Paquette fills a need of 4C punisher.

chucky, while useless, has a cap hit small enough that on the taxi squad carries no hit. We have around 3 million in cap space for a deadline deal that is equivalent to a 5-6 million dollar player. We can get more useful scoring if needed.

Poor Galchenyuk he's been such a suitcase and can't find security when it comes to an NHL team.
Poor Dzingel because he just can't escape the Ottawa Senators.

Wonder if Galchenyuk could break a record for most NHL teams played for.

Other question for me here is why wasn't it Stepan considering I understand he wants out of Ottawa.

There is not much punish left in Paquette. He's been really bad from day 1. Galchenyuk at least has a laser shot on the PP that could be useful.

Dzingel is by far the most valuable guy in this deal.

Dzingel never really fit in Carolina and Rod just never really trusted him much. I think Carolina views Paquette as a guy they can use on a 4th line.

Galchenyuk comes in as a reclamation project. If not, they waive him and get the cap space. Bit of a cap clearing move here for Carolina.

He’s a solid NHL physical 4th liner. Can pk and play center and wing. Strong fore checker. Every team needs role players like him.
