What in the world happened to Dzingel after we traded him. Back to back 20 goal guy for us. I hope you didn't break him
As if anyone could call this great for either side. It’s a bunch of struggling guys getting a change of scenery.
Dadonov says helloman, trading a dude you just signed in UFA after 8 games?
not that anyone that isn't washed wants to play in Ottawa, but thats a bad look
Teams started looking at his secondary stats and realized his goals came at a price. Scared them away or buried him for more favorable matchups. What in the world happened to Dzingel after we traded him. Back to back 20 goal guy for us. I hope you didn't break him

His GF% in 5v5 play wasn’t good in his 2 years of scoring ~20 goals. His GA was above his GF.Perhaps being moved down the lineup hurt him more than when he was a top 6 guy being put in good offensive zone positions. I guess we'll see, because he's a top 6 on Ottawa (lol) without question. Hopefully he can replicate his success earlier here, although he was with some damn good players then, so that's hard to imagine.

Is Galchenyuk still a reclamation project?
Well I mean, I'm guessing there was a massive cup hangover, given his new situation.Looked like an echl player in Ottawa nobody is going to miss him in the slightest here
Edit: Not sure why my text didn't intially appear after the post.
He came from a team that did everything first class and where the goal was to win the cup. He was sent to a team where ownership cares more about prepaid salary so the cap gets inflated and saves them money. Ownership has little interest in winning. Management hasn't shown the ability to build or coach a winner. Now looking at the pretty decent names on the roster, while not contenders they should have been competitive. It's pretty clear he wasn't the only guy trying to get through this year and get the hell out.I thought the same thing when he was coming into Ottawa, that he would be a solid 4th line guy.
Honestly, after watching every Sens game this season, He looks like he’s done, just a warm body that can play games here and there.
Ownership spent some money getting some players to insulate the young players this season, Paquette was one of them. Excuses, excuses...first class organization, Stanley Cup hangover....whatever. He was needed to come in and be good and while he's not the only veteran to crap the bed, he and Stepan were the standouts as worst acquisitions imaginable. Shame on this guy. Go and sulk or be happy elsewhere, looked like dog shit as a player from where I watched, so no loss here.He came from a team that did everything first class and where the goal was to win the cup. Defintely had to have been, which sucks for him, but hardly a professional way to handle yourself. I'm happy it didn't work out.Well I mean, I'm guessing there was a massive cup hangover, given his new situation.
Galchenyuk is really talented.
Yet another new shot for him. Hoping this somehow works out this time.

Ownership did not spend in the Paquette/Coburn deal. In fact they saved money.
Gaborik's deal was insured. depending on source the team paid 600k or 650k, Nilsson's deal cost 2.4. (AAV's)
So the cost would be 3.00m to 3.050m
Coburn costs 1.7m and Paquette 1.65. (3.350m)
So you're claiming they spent 300k to insulate the kids?
Except the 2 players were on the roster. ... without the trade Ottawa needs 2 additional skaters and the absolute minimum salary is $700k per year.
It's Ottawa's owners standard and I'm not saying it's a bad move since they also gained a pick but reality is the owner saved a MINIMUM of $1.050 million.
Kids are fighting for spots and to make a name and get future raises. Veteran players know they are playing for a team where winning is an after thought. You may disagree but evidence shows be it sports or another industry when ownership is cheap to the point where increased profit and NOT spending takes precedence over quality product employees are much less likely to perform at a high level.
To this end please note in true Melnyk fashion Dzingel's cap hit next year is larger than actual salary
And lets not pretend other teams don't realize this. Carolina gave up Dzingel and will eat Galchenyuk's contract to get Paquette.
He is still the same player. The issue is he’s not quite good enough to get top-6 ice time.
Svechnikov and Teravainen get the big first-line minutes for obvious reasons. As you move down the lineup, guys like Niederreiter or McGinn or Foegele are going to give you about 15 goals with a lot of sandpaper and a defensive conscience. Brind'Amour loves that type of player and will usually prefer them to a pure offensive guy who is only going to score a few more goals over the course of a season.
What that means for Dzingel is on a given night he might be on the 2nd line getting good scoring chances, or he might be on the 4th line just hoping for a lucky break. It’s not conductive to scoring a ton of goals, and he doesn’t deliver much value beyond that scoring role.
It just isn’t a good fit and it sounds like there was a mutual and professional understanding that it was best to move on. I have little doubt he’ll go back to scoring once he’s given the opportunity to do so.
