The 17-18 salary wouldn't be an issue, I guess. $2.3 mil is a bit on the high side for a 4C in 18-19 for a money conscious team, though.

Aww, neckbeard is upset that we wouldn't trade Hanifin+1st for Duchene.

I love how Francis has upgraded the goaltending, defense, and offense this summer, yet some snarky smartass is still finding something to ***** about.

Edit: Ah, I see. He's a beat writer for the Avs. He must be upset about not getting Hanifin.

They've been that way since we rightly called them completely out to lunch on the idea of Duchene returning Hanifin, yet alone Hanifin+(+)

Almost as fascinating as having your coach quit two months before the season starts and GMing your team to a historically ****** season, then losing the lottery and picking fourth.

Hate the fans, not the team. We've haven't been to the playoffs in years, who are we to judge? Sakic is doing exactly what I hope RF would do in the same situation. Get the most he can for his assets. Haefele is a clown, but Dater is pretty solid.

And if RF's backup plan to Duchene IS Kruger - of course it's gonna get some guffahs. Deservedly. Hopefully there's more to this plan than we know.

Carolina is solving their goaltending problem with Jeremy Smith.

The Ron Francis era is going to be... interesting.

What a weird thing to get mad at another GM for saying no thank you to the price you've put on your asset.

Ryan won't be involved in the trade and neither will Jooris. Guys who just signed as UFAs or impending UFAs don't get traded. We're not exactly a free agent destination to begin with and I don't think that would help.

Even Hossa had just re-signed as an RFA when he got traded.

Don't see how trading for Kruger should be viewed as some sort of "backup plan" for Duchene. Like clearly they are not the same type of player. It also doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the roster and see the closest thing we have to a 4C is a marginal NHLer who's never played more than 60 games in a season.

Yes, because we're going to play Kruger on our first line, you thundering dolt. If you want to be "fascinated" how bout we compare what Francis has done with the mess he inherited vs. the way Sakic has run his team into the ground.

Saying the Canes are trying to "solve their center problem" with Kruger or calling him a backup plan to Duchene is like saying the Flames are trying to solve their goalie problem with Eddie Lack. I guess it's hilarious if you're willing to completely misunderstand the situation on purpose.

Haven't read the whole thread to see if this has been suggested before. I wonder if we are seeing the final resolution of a three way deal worked out before the expansion draft by Carolina/Chicago/Vegas?

- Rumors of Chicago and Vegas agreeing to a combined TVR/Kruger package long before the expansion draft protection decisions.
- TVR gets selected by Vegas and quickly moved to Carolina.
- Now Kruger is traded to Vegas and supposedly on the way to Carolina.

Some credible sources reported there were one or two 3-way expansion draft deals in place.

Had not heard that but I wouldn't be surprised at all. That's sounds like GMGM taking a page right out of the Billy Beane playbook, something he'd be dumb not to do with where he stands right now.

Really hope this happens, I like Kruger a lot as a JStaal-lite. It will take a lot of pressure off that line, especially late in games. It also makes one of the best faceoff and PK teams in the league even better. Adding strength to strength is never a bad idea when you have the luxury to do it.

Krűger looked great @ the WCs, going up against and winning hard match-ups against the other team's best centers/lines.

He even drove Sweden's offence in a couple of games where the leading offensive lines struggled.

He's a no-quit, hard-working, defensively extremely smart player with great faceoff and pk-qualities.

I also still think that he has another gear offensively, he never got to use in Chicago.

If you can land him this off season, I like your chances of beibg a bubble team as soon as next season.

Btw, Nordstrom and he looked great together too.

We were eliminated on April 5, season ended April 9, if that's not already a bubble team I don't know what is.

Who is even saying that Kruger is backup plan for Duchene? Come on, it`s nothing like that, we are just acquiring center depth, and why we would not do that. His actual salary is not that big, his cap hit is only for 2 more seasons. As people said before, it would allow Staal to play a bit more offensive game and not be always against best opposition to shut them down.

If there is no trade what makes sense for #1/2 C our backup plan for sure is not Kruger, it`s just getting assets to make us better, and you better believe that if Kruger is available and we can get him, it would help us out a lot defensively.

And if you are worried about our cap situation just look at capfriendly and calm your ass down.

There are not many good #1-2 C available, Duchene is one of them. Sakic is asking for way to much or a deal is not making sense to our team, so why we would trade for him. We can get deeper at C by getting Kruger, and have a decent team who can surely challenge for playoff spot. There is no need to sell our young players now for uncertainty.

Jesus that guy is ******** who wrote that tweet.

I like the move. Anytime the Canes can pick up an elite talent like Kruger, they need to jump on it.

Am I misremembering or wasn't the reason the hawks paid us to take Versteeg (or TT) was so they could sign Kruger?
