I could see Vegas being interested in guys like PDG, McGinn, Zykov, Wallmark, etc. Forwards who can play next year.

I don't understand why they want to add a bottom-6 C, but Francis has a plan. Maybe Vegas retains 50%?

Vegas is obviously retaining. Otherwise the Canes would have just got him from Chicago like the rest of their roster. Hell probably for a discount for letting them poach Ulf.

Well....he's a center.

Not remotely the one I would want or expect. We have jstaal for defensive purposes.

we'll do what chicago does. throw kruger to the wolves and let jstaal play an offensive game with aho and lindholm.

Then, if anyone asks, we'll act as if he's still our main matchup center, "he scored those points/had great possession against top competition!".

aho staal lindholm
skinner Ryan stempniak
turbo rask williams
nordstrom kruger mcginn
jooris

slavin faulk
hanifin pesce
fleury tvr

i, i could say this is a move to acquire enough defensive depth to shut down teams with 3+ lines of depth, aka half the metro.
unit 1: slavin pesce
unit 2: staal
unit 3: kruger

I just read that Kruger has a list of teams he didn't want a trade to is it possible we were on that list and had to go through another team to get him?

It feels like there should be more to this than them just getting Vegas to take half the salary. I do like the extra bodies on the 4th line though.

I feel like it would be really unwise to circumvent a NTC to get a player that didn't want to be here. I'm still baffled by this potential deal, though, unless there is more to the trade itself or we're making another move after it.

I had hoped we could get Kruger as part of a cap dump from Chicago because I thought he could be very effective for us and we could pick up an asset to boot. This would be a little different, but I'd still be happy to get him.

I would prefer that they kept Teravainen as well. Honestly, if they can't upgrade a Stempniak or Ryan without giving up one of their young forwards/defenders, then they should go into next season as is.

I rather keep Turbo, as he can play like all 3 forward positions

PDG for Kruger makes sense to me

I think it is PDG for Kruger and TT for Neal. The reason I speculate this possibility is that TT plays best at center, but it seems and is rumored that Peters was not thrilled with his play at times last year. This may be a way to get a couple of guys more to his liking.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating the deal I hypothesized, just trying consider what I think management might be up to with a move for Kruger. On its own, seems like duplication with TT and Jooris and Ryan.

Isn't this a team that just had Jay McClement as well as Jordan for defensive purposes the last 3 years?

I don't disagree, but we just signed Ryan and Jooris presumably to play center in the bottom six. Jooris can play wing but we're playing more for Kruger to play there than jay mac. Even if they retain he's not cheap for that role. If we're spending money at center like that you'd expect it to be for what RF said, a top six one. Kruger is an overpaid defensive specialist that has always felt like a luxury we couldn't afford. I don't hate the guy, just don't see it as the right allocation of funds.

Could be, but I think TT could do better this season with Peters system IMO, but they could move on from him as well, I just think upside of Turbo is yet to be seen. Someone said like a week or so ago, that he was feeling that Neal could be in decline very soon. I think he could score 20+ goals this next season, dont know about after. At least only one year left on his deal.

In the end, I trust that GMRF will make a right move for us, he has a plan, and so far it`s going good for us, so I am not worried.

Big time yeah for Kruger. He was one of my early targets. Hell of a D forward. We could use Staal more offensively if we have Kruger.

I wouldn't trade TT for Neal but Kruger was one of my top choices along with TVR.

Would it not be somewhat of a faux pas to trade TT so soon after signing him to his bridge deal?

If we're taking on more that Krueger, I'd think we're probably digging into some prospects and/or 2018 picks. Hell, Johansson just went for a 2018 2nd and 3rd. If were also taking on Neal, I'd say TT is probably safe.

i don't get the automatic including if Neal at every chance. Not a good fit for price or term. Keeping him will be really expensive when we said we need the talent at center. We don't have a good playmaker for him to play with.

I don't see Teravainen going. I think they're more than willing to see if he takes yet another step forward this year. I also don't see RF being the type to trade Ryan right after he signed as a potential UFA.

I like the idea of adding Kruger. I think he'd play an important role, and play it well. PDG was the first name that jumped to mind for me just like many others. It'd be cool if we could add Neal in the deal, but it seems unlikely.

2 things. 1, I'm confused about what Vegas is doing, pretty much with every move they make. And 2, it'd be ****** of Francis to sign guys to contracts and then trade them. We did it with Hossa. It's a crap move. Hopefully the guys would know it before they signed their names?
