A few things I noticed that kind of go against general opinion (in bold) as I was poking around thinking about hockey in 3 weeks:
- Teravainen needs to shoot more—TT was actually 3rd in shots on goal, one behind Svech; and fourth in shots taken.
- Fleury has no offense—not only did Haydn Fleury score FOUR goals this season, but he had 10 primary points at even strength. That was more than Gardiner (3), one fewer than Pesce in 55% of the time, and five fewer than Slavin in 45% of the time.
- The PK was strong partly because of face-off success—everyone except Staal was <50% and even Staal was almost 4 points lower than in other situations (Wallmark was 10 points lower and Haula was 25 points lower). Conversely, the Canes (including Trocheck, Haula, and Wallmark) were much better on the PP than at even strength in the circle.
