A few things I noticed that kind of go against general opinion (in bold) as I was poking around thinking about hockey in 3 weeks:

  • Teravainen needs to shoot more—TT was actually 3rd in shots on goal, one behind Svech; and fourth in shots taken.
  • Fleury has no offense—not only did Haydn Fleury score FOUR goals this season, but he had 10 primary points at even strength. That was more than Gardiner (3), one fewer than Pesce in 55% of the time, and five fewer than Slavin in 45% of the time.
  • The PK was strong partly because of face-off success—everyone except Staal was <50% and even Staal was almost 4 points lower than in other situations (Wallmark was 10 points lower and Haula was 25 points lower). Conversely, the Canes (including Trocheck, Haula, and Wallmark) were much better on the PP than at even strength in the circle.

It is still very much me. I am very complex individual. I just exaggerate some of my traits.

Am I still nuts?

YES.

But can I be completely unhinged when I am at the hospital? Well... yes in terms of energy, vocal intensity and enthusiasm. But I gotta put down that BLOODTHIRST YOU KNOW.
Why? Wouldn't the hospital be a great location for that potential problem? Sorry maybe I've just played too much VtM over the years...

My Rangers defender pairings

Slavin-Hamilton
Skjei-Vatanen
Gardiner/Fleury-TVR/Fleury

we need skating against the Rangers.

Introduce the grit of Edmundson if we play Washington or Boston later. No Gardiner against Boston. No Gardiner against Washington either. Ovi would target him like he did Hamilton.

Fleury has no offense—not only did Haydn Fleury score FOUR goals this season, but he had 10 primary points at even strength

We're talking about the guy who had 3 primary points in 27 games to start the year, yes?

Anyway I looked at his primary assists:
10/8 Florida: Fleury fires a point shot going 10 feet wide left that Teravainen expertly tips in at a ridiculous angle (tbf yes, Fleury was going for the tip, on the other hand this works so little and is a systemic quirk that I'm not inclined to give Fleury too much credit for producing the goal)
1/31 Vegas: On a 4 on 3 break Fleury, skating down the left wing, tries to center it to a wide open Williams on the far side, but the pass is blocked and careens to McGinn, who buries it
2/6 Phoenix: Fleury fires a point shot, which deflects to Svechnikov who buries it
2/14 New Jersey: Fleury passes it blueline to blueline to Neiderreiter (covering for an activated TVR), who fires a slapshot that scores
3/7 Islanders: Fleury hammers a loose puck in the general direction of the net, tipped by Williams
3/8 Pittsburgh: Fleury gets the puck from Staal, buys time by skating forward until Williams is in position, then hits Williams with a wrist shot for a tip in goal

The only one where Fleury really plays an active part is the last one, the others are moreso the product that an NHL'er getting NHL ice time is going to get points simply by the nature of the game.

Conclusion: Is he better offensively than the Hater of Ankles himself, Ron Hainsey? Sure.

Bokk isn’t on the roster. I would bet its just a long training camp for Suzuki and Beane.
Waddell said there could be more additions made between now and Phase 4, so there is a chance Bokk could make camp. However, like Navin said, no chance of playing if Rod is still coach.

To make it realistic for the Rags, they need to have cardboard cutouts of people in business suits and trust fund hipsters playing on their cell phones.

Necas not on the ice today (no reason given at the moment as far as I’ve seen tweeted)

Other than the question of ‘Where the hell is Necas’ I kind of like these lines.

At first I didn’t like that second line at all but I get it. That’s your physical gritty shutdown line that will do a lot of heavy lifting and then it allows the offensive third line to feast on weak competition. Kind of like what Pittsburgh did with Kessel on their cup runs. That 4th line could also be a lot of fun to watch.

With Pesce out those D pairings make a ton of sense but I see the bottom 4 names being very interchangeable. Skej - Vats is a complete mystery box. Both good players with lots of high end skill but will they mesh? Can they hold their own in the defensive zone? Maybe the idea is to put them on the ice with the Staal line so that you have 3 very good defensive forwards to keep things under control.

A lot of European guys didn’t come back early (the Bruins have quite a few not on the ice today that I know).

He may still have a couple days in quarantine.
Apparently Nino, Mrazek, and Necas all flew back together so I would have thought they’d be subject to the same requirements. Not worth speculating at this point though, I’m sure we’ll know more soon enough

  • Teravainen needs to shoot more—TT was actually 3rd in shots on goal, one behind Svech; and fourth in shots taken.

He's also #1 in PP minutes and #2 (by a wide margin) in total TOI. As a matter of shot/minute, TT is on a level with Jordan Staal.

Turbo also has 2-3 times as many slap shots as the other forwards, which is problematic. That's part (but only part) of the reason his shooting percentage is down with the Staal, Martinook, McGinn crowd.

And he's doing this while playing on the top line with two of the best offensive forwards in the league and usually with a top-level offensive defenseman at the point.

It's not just that he doesn't shoot enough, but also that he has shown poor shot selection when he does pull the trigger. We need Teuvo to be scoring goals in the 20s, not the 10s. The shortest route to getting there is for him to take better and more frequent shots.
