Outside of some weird numbers for our fourth line in their limited minutes, Willy by the numbers among our forwards:

- Leads us in CF% (shot share)
- Second in xGF% (shot share adjusted for quality)
- Leads us in GF% (goal differential)
- Leads us in SCF% (scoring chances)
- Second in HDCF% (high danger scoring chances)
- Leads us in individual high danger scoring chances.
- Second in individual expected goals for.
- Second of all Leafs forwards in 5-on-5 production.
- Tied for 15th in the league in 5-on-5 production.
- Tied for 12th in the league in primary points.

He's also somehow one of the most criticized Leafs on twitter and various other fan outlets, along with Matthews who is up there with him or better in these areas.

Of course people will tell me to actually watch the games, which is exactly what they did when they were adamant that Nylander hadn't been in the slot all season.

So the Leafs are better with Nylander on the ice than when he isn't. What a surprise. You would think that would be far from the case the way certain individuals talk about him here...

Thought he was decent last night. Good to see him go to the net for his goal.
Didn't like his effort on the Barzal goal.

i keep seeing this but on that play Johnsson made a terrible pass then Nylander won it back and in doing so the puck got stuck between his legs and taken away again and to top it all off Rielly (i think it was rielly) totally missed his assignment on the backdoor.

There are many many examples of Nylander's bad effort in the Dzone i just dont think this is one of them.

There will be people that say that these numbers prove he's been "pretty good" this year, when they actually prove he's been great.

He'll get no significant credit from the former while they wait for him to have a short slump or miss one out of 10 backchecks.

Yeah I don't know why Nylander is getting blame for that. He was the one who got back and stole the puck back, but he was in an awkward position with the Isles player right next to him, and turned the puck over.

And he's also not on the primary PP unit.

William Nylander first 13 games of season: 17:12 TOI/GP, 3G 5A 8P in 13 games.

Last 7 games: 19:11 TOI/GP, 5G 3A 8P in 7 games.

What a god damn concept eh? Ice time increased and subsequently production increases directly alongside it. These things 100% get factored in during contract negotiations. Whether you like Dubas or not, this contract is nowhere near as bad as some folks are trying to exclaim, it's trending towards actually being a bargain.

Nith also highlighted the deeper picture stats-wise

- Leads us in CF% (shot share)
- Second in xGF% (shot share adjusted for quality)

- Tied for 15th in the league in 5-on-5 production.
- Tied for 12th in the league in primary points.

This thread seems to be slowing down since he's been en fuego, and I'm sure it'll go back to normal the moment he has a bad game; but I just wanted to post in here because we've been here since the beginning and I'm proud of you guys.

Don't forget how they would make fun of him being a zone entry wizard and mock anyone who would bring it up. Shockingly, entering the zone with possession leads to quality scoring chances.

That tip in goal vs the Islanders was amazing.

With how he has been playing I knew that one was going in.

Glad to see this guy proving doubters wrong, I'm been telling people that everyone will love him by this year when he signed his contract.
