So we got two stories going on here, the Jack Eichel saga with his injury and if and where Buffalo can send him and the Evander Kane character issues/accusations of abandoning his family and gambling on NHL games. Think the stories are totally separate, but they may not be. If things go south for Kane and somehow the NHL bans him from the league, I could see the Sharks move on Eichel with the money saved from the Kane contract.

Sure but he played well for the Sharks last year. How can a winger throw a game? On the Sharks?

The only way I can imagine him making money is betting on prop bets by getting into a fight or something but that's not the allegation.

I'm allowing for the possibility that his wife has very good reasons to be upset at him and she's trying hurt him by saying the most damaging thing possible that will get the NHL's attention.

Really the fact that he abandoned his pregnant wife and kid is the most damaging thing here, in my opinion.

And i doubt he actually made the bets himself if he did that but that wouldn’t be hard to do with a help from friend.

Evander has created some kind of mess for himself. From the sound of it, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Unlikely. Canada still has a federal ban on single game sports betting. The US Supreme Court ruling that opened the door to sports betting on a larger scale didn’t happen until 2018.

Kane has been in trouble on numerous occasions in the past. Not shocked about all this stuff at all. The fact that this guy filed for bankruptcy while making millions of dollars in the prime of his career speaks volumes about his character and mental capacity. Genuinely feel sorry for his wife but she should've known better than having kids with that idiot.

Y'all really think guys with that kind of money bet on their phones or through casinos like the rest of us plugs?

Y'all really think that if you were going to illegally fix games and gamble you'd tie yourself to an electronic record of it?

Y'all really think there isn't single game sports betting in Canada because it's "banned"?


I don't really buy that he could impact the spread or the outcome of his games, seems highly difficult for a single hockey forward to do that. I definitely think he's probably deep into high stakes gambling, his own social media has shown him with massive cash in Vegas. Frankly though, guys who gamble like that partially for clout. If he can't brag to his boys about how much he bet on the fight or the football game he's probably not betting. Just my two cents.
