OT: Jets Lounge: post a Star Wars spoiler == Infraction!

I enjoyed the new Star Wars movie. But it is what it is and what I've always expected of the vast majority of the movies in the line - popcorn fluff. Even ESB, as good as it was, is the same.
I find it the same for the Star Trek and all the Marvel movies - plot, character development are secondary to crash, bang, boom. So the Force Awakens delivered exactly what I expected. But it should have been a May release so it fit better with they styling of the movie to the time of the year and kept with tradition. Of course Lucas/Disney have become at least as much about the secondary marketing as the original movie so a release just prior to Christmas makes more sense financially. As someone else said though, it's a trilogy and I expect it in many, many ways to follow along with the general plot lines of the original trilogy. As such I expect the second installment to delve more into the development of the main character(s). Whether that's as well executed as ESB remains to be seen.
I'm still curious though to see when audiences hit their saturation point for what are essentially comic based movies - Marvel Universe, Star Wars/Trek, DC Universe (if they ever figure out how to translate something besides Batman to the large screen)? There's no question there are tons and tons of stories to pull from 50+ years of comic book storytelling but how much is too much? Will it always be cool to be nerdy? It's probably as much a statement though about how idea-less Hollywood has become - was anyone really clamoring for a remake of Point Break?

I've always wondered this. I've seen both done. The large turning sections on Broadway. Since the stretch of road is long enough do you have to obey the traffic light or proceed with the turn once clear. I've seen both done and just wondering the correct situation for law sakes.
I normally just proceed but keep getting stuck behind others so starting to doubt myself here.

Roommate and I spent 2 hours replacing the faucet assembly in the kitchen sink. Most of the time was spent removing the old assembly. My neck and shoulder hurts from the angle I held them at, but it looks like the faucet took. Huzzah - no more water leak underneath the sink.
Turning left off Broadway you should proceed with the turn. The light you need to obey is the one on Broadway, not the cross-street.

FYI - didn't end up drinking it on NYE (got a few bottles for Xmas that I tried instead) but opened the first growler last night and it's REALLY GOOD.

Not sure how you can lump in a Point Break movie with Marvel then go and lump that in with Sci-Fi. Superheroes, Sci-Fi, Action, these are staples of the summer blockbuster though. That's not going anywhere. I don't see how you can lump Sci-Fi into Superheroes unless you also want to lump in Action at very least. Go all the way back to 60's where Bond had 2 of the top 14. Star Wars, Jaws, Bond, Die Hard, Marvel, Batman/Superman, Transformers, Fast and the Furious these dominate the blockbuster since they are safe and easy sells. When you sink a quarter of a billion on a movie you want safe. That's just not going to change. Batman was #4 movie of the 80's (with Star Wars and ET above it).
That being the thing, that's why we should cling to the movies among those that are made better, when they bother hiring real writers, real actors, real directors. Which is why The Force Awakens, new Batman, new Bond, Guardians of the Galaxy should be appreciated. Movies where they actually tried to make a real movie rather than robot punching robot around wooden hot looking actors/actresses.
It will eventually swing away from Marvel, but you're kidding yourself if you think it will be to anything regarding quality movies. You have too look deeper for that. There is still quality to be found in every genre, just rarely in the top end grossers since the average viewer seems to have little concept of quality or just doesn't care, in my experience.

I agree with you about Bond in particular, I feel as though the newer ones since Casino Royale have added a lot of depth to the franchise that wasn't there before.

Hey, I just binged watched that at the end of December. The middle episodes were the ones that kept me going. I was a little underwhelmed by last few but once you get that far in a Netflix series you can't stop. Also without spoiling it, it didn't end like I thought it would.
I know some of my friends weren't too fond of a lot of the court scenes and found it kind of repetitive in that way. However, I am with you, the middle episodes really brought the best out of the series, and there's just SO many things that leave you shaking your head. It's just one of those series that I found hard to stop watching. It's very, very easy to get caught up in the story and want to find out more.
The reddit theories and stuff have been fun to poke through. Definitely a lot of trash, but some interesting facts, etc. have been popping up from outside of the series.
I'll have to check out reddit. I really enjoyed the court scene episodes. I thought episodes 3-8 were the best. I like the depth the documentary went into because it allowed me to make a judgment myself.
