The top 5 for what, every round or just the top 5 of the draft? They definitely have input on the first selections (like all GMs) but it'd be interesting to know if they look at the top players around their target area for the later rounds. The problem is that the later rounds become such a mess once players start dropping and moving up a bunch of spots, so even if they do I'm not sure how effective it is.
i'm sure the GM is heavily scouting the top 2 or 3 rounds, doing interviews. after that, is where the scouts come in. finding gems, overlooked players, injured players, targeting areas of need, etc...
our scouts certainly don't go see every prospect, but can garner a decent idea of who will be where (via other rankings?).
yeah, later rounds are a mess, and are basically a crap shoot. all i know is that if i were GM, i would be using my scouts as a resource, not letting them make picks.
anyway, the question i had was about Garf vs Lou. do they approach the draft the same way? is Lou more hands on? i just remember hearing something about Garf letting scouts pick some players, and i don't think i would do that. yeah, it may be a vote of confidence for the scouts but still, i would feel like it's my neckon the line, and i would be very involved, right up until last pick.
