Sure would. Quick question: Any other Isles prospects selected to attend any WJC camps? Is Krygier a possibility for team USA. Thanks in advance

One other WJC hopeful to note, New York Islanders prospect Matias Rajaniemi has been named to Finland’s preliminary roster for the 2021 World Juniors. So that is a bit of good news.

Thanks for sharing!! That would be good news if they both make the squad. The tournament is certainly more enjoyable when our prospects are involved.

There are all kinds of factors to consider, one of the biggest bring his attitude. As long as he's willing to work hard he's almost guaranteed to learn more just practicing with better players and coaches.

If you're much better than your teammates and opponents, you tend to develop bad habits, that are hard to shake.
True but then the argument can be made that it stifles the creative side . As an example, if this player was one to always want the puck , he might feel pressured to give the puck to a more experienced player thus hindering his development. I think the scouting staff should really pay close attention in these cases . I recall Barzals first time up with the Isles and every time he touched the puck he was looking to get rid of it. He didn’t really feel comfortable. He went back down and a year later found it. You just never know how it affects certain players

i may be wrong, but it seems like the Lou and Barry are more involved in the draft, than Garf was.

Garf would make the first few picks, and then let the scouting staff take over, whereas LL and BT seem to have their fingerprints on all the picks.

what do you guys think?

Seems unlikely, with the exception of what attributes Lamoriello wants the scouts to prioritize. I just don't see any GM sifting through footage of hundreds of prospects who will be going in the later rounds.

i don't see this either, but i can see Barry and Lou saying to the scouts, "Show us your top 5", and then proceeding to join minds, regarding skill and team needs.

The top 5 for what, every round or just the top 5 of the draft? They definitely have input on the first selections (like all GMs) but it'd be interesting to know if they look at the top players around their target area for the later rounds. The problem is that the later rounds become such a mess once players start dropping and moving up a bunch of spots, so even if they do I'm not sure how effective it is.

i'm sure the GM is heavily scouting the top 2 or 3 rounds, doing interviews. after that, is where the scouts come in. finding gems, overlooked players, injured players, targeting areas of need, etc...

our scouts certainly don't go see every prospect, but can garner a decent idea of who will be where (via other rankings?).

yeah, later rounds are a mess, and are basically a crap shoot. all i know is that if i were GM, i would be using my scouts as a resource, not letting them make picks.

anyway, the question i had was about Garf vs Lou. do they approach the draft the same way? is Lou more hands on? i just remember hearing something about Garf letting scouts pick some players, and i don't think i would do that. yeah, it may be a vote of confidence for the scouts but still, i would feel like it's my neckon the line, and i would be very involved, right up until last pick.

Haven't been too invested in prospects during the pandemic, just a very general question. Not including Sorokin and Dobson, since they are going to be on the big team. Who has stood out as the Isles best prospect this fall?

Not sure about "best", but Koivula and Salo have been putting up good numbers.

That's a name I haven't heard in awhile. Salo, I had to look him up for a reminder. 2017, not one of the Isles most stellar drafts. Mind you they only had 5 picks. No first, maybe Salo or Aho can change that.
