Were talking about Erik Karlsson. Not one single person has brought up corsi or fancy stats showing how good EK has been on the defensive side of the game. Soooooo hell yes I'm look at offensive numbers and every single one of these guys besides Pietro (IR) is right around EK stats wise and the majority play on worse teams when it comes to padding stats.
If were talking pedigree of what have you done in the past 5 years then sure, EK wins over all IMO, but were talking about today and he is simply not in the top 5-10 of dmen in the league.
You have to take into account the team around each player and I would argue Karlsson and Burns are in the best position to put up points as a dman.
How? These guys are playing with a mediocre forward group. They, along with Timo Meier, are their team’s offense.
A defenseman in a good position is somebody like Victor Hedman.

Karlsson has quite literally been the best Corsi player in the league, but go off sis.
Classic has such a history of being defensively poor...right?
Well not really.
Actually, he’s shown a pretty clear trend of regression over the past two seasons, but this season he is legitimately playing below replacement level.
