I'm not overrating it. I'm calling it a problem. He can change his title to CEO and focus on the business side of things. A president should be involved in both hockey and business decisions. Right now, Bergevin is basically the President of Hockey operations and GM.

Let me ask you this... if we fire Bergevin, who's doing the interviews for the new GM? Molson? That's scary
Yep like every GM in the league that there team are owned by an owner. Team that have a president are team that are owned by a group: NYR = Madison Square Garden Sport, TOR = Madison Leafs Sport and entertainment, BOS = Delaware North, LA = Anschutz Entertainment Group, Ect. If the GM was doing a good job, no one would talk about Molson. And for the interview, he can hired a team management specialist to help him make his decision.

I have no problem with Molson as the president of hockey ops for the reason you just mentioned but the problem is having MB be the GM and VP making him basically the boss of everything hockey related. To hold GMs accountable, Molson should hire
a VP of hockey ops that's independent from the GM.

Honestly, MB will probably have no problem getting a job but I don't think he wants to resign with the Habs organization nor do I think he will be fired after this year with one year left. This whole conversation is about 1 year too early

If he can't have this role it's because he's not the right man. Most GM have that role and it's really not a problem. The suggestion of VP of hockey independent from the GM is really good idea that I didn't think about. That's probably the best solution for everyone.

So if you were a billionaire and bought the Habs, you would make yourself President and think that is OK? And you probably know more about hockey than Molson does. BTW... Molson brothers are the majority owners but there are several other partners with Bell being one of them.

I don't care what other teams are doing at the end of the day. I value two guys more than one who know hockey. Inserting a hockey guy with experience at business and hockey is of value to me.

Leafs could have easily put Tanenbaum as President but I bet you Bell and Rogers blocked that as part of the purchasing agreement. Or Tanenbaum was smart enough to realize that they needed a guy who knew hockey to run things at the higher level.

Yes probably I would want to be president of the business that I invest my money in. He doesn't do anything on the hockey side so who cares ? When where at a point where we want to put an other hockey guy a head of someone after 9 yrs, it's maybe because that guy is not the right man for you. Invest in your AGM/scouting staff/pro-scout/Analyst development at the place and it will probably be a better investissement then naming a president.

You need someone who knows both business and hockey. They could be named President or VP. We don't have that guy on our team.

As an owner, you can be chairman like Larry Tanenbaum with the Leafs. Shanahan is President and alternate Governor. According to your narrative, Tanenbaum should have named himself President and they don't need Shanahan. It would be Tanenbaum and Dubas the kid

I totally agree with hiring a VP of hockey operation with experience, that's in fact what I would do but if you hired the right guy, you don't need a President

Semantics on what title you give them but the root of the problem remains. We need someone who knows both business and hockey. We lack that guy

The difference is that the GM will still be the #1 guy. And does Jeff Vinik in TB really know hockey ? Leonsis and Patrick in WSH ? Llitch in DET ? Kroenke in COL ? Molson probably know more hockey then them but no one is saying anything because they have the right man as GM.

The difference is we had a President who is an owner who hired a rookie GM who learned on the job. Context of what is at play at any given point time matters.

A savvy President who knows business and hockey might have stopped Bergevin from moving up the standings in 2012 and said you need to sell on Pleky and Markov and others and do a proper rebuild. The prospect pool is not good enough to start rising in the standings. Understand where I am coming from?

So now, someone on JiCi, an actor called Eric Hoziel, threw a rumour out there that apparently, Roy bought a house...in Candiac.

Ouin. This will excite those who voted for him if true. JiCi brought back the infamous Hossa gloves as one of those ridiculous rumours.

Stephane Turcot who is a reporter for the sport in the city of QC (Ramparts/Rouge et or/sport amateur/ect) said that he hear from person close to Patrick Roy that he want to comeback as a GM and not a coach. He think that he's plan is to become Habs GM and after retire in Florida. He added that Molson and Roy have good relationship and that Molson respect a lot the opinion of Roy but Molson really like Bergevin to.

Whoever comes in I hope they gut the team.

Weber to Seattle with some agreement.

All UFAs walk.

Call up more youth.

I think its about time to take not just a step but a few back. If it results us being in the running
for Shane Wright so be it. They need a reset and a new direction and aim towards it.

Bergevin has lost his vision IMO. Got faster / the got bigger/ got younger / now slower and older. It's like he doesn't know where he wants to go based on the Weber deal kind of forcing him to compete right away without the roster there. Keeping Subban wasn't necessarily correct but it was more inline with his first movement young and fast.

Toffoli Suzuki Anderson
Drouin Kotkaniemi Gallagher
???? Poehling Caufield
???? Evans ????

Romanov Petry
Edmundson ????
Chiarot Fleury
Kulak Brook

Price
Allen

I think its time the fan base accept a rebuild of management right down to a full rebuild of the roster. The future pain will be worth it for the long term success.

With a Seattle Weber deal that takes out the win now for him. Price would still be here but we can't try to keep playing mediocre hockey and price getting more banged up. Just go get younger and deeper.

You can look at it as they are in a playoff spot now but Calgary / Vancouver / Ottawa just happened to be worse enough not to claim that 4th spot.
