That's what got us here.............Mol$on is a rich donkey...proof is in the results!
Let's hope this guy just steps away................let the board hire the hockey president, and the new hockey president hire the GM/
Mol$on can count his 1oo dollar bills in the back office.

How can we hope that Geoff steps away? What would suddenly cause that to happen? He fashions himself a hockey executive, he’s not just give it up. Of course, we’d all want him to take care of hotdogs and washrooms and leave hockey ops to qualified hockey people but alas.

I would think, getting pounded by the leafs in the playoffs, if we even make it, would finally embarass Geoff enough to remove MB and hopefully himself.
Everyone knows we need a hockey ops president, and a new GM....what amazes me, is we all know it, but Geoff doesn't? I mean seriously, does he think we have had success in the last 5-6 years?

We don't need a Hockey President, we need a good GM. When the GM will make his job and bring this team a contender NO ONE will talk about the president.. No one is talking about having a hockey president in Tampa/Detroit/Colorado because there GM is making the job

Good point.................we have needed one the whole time Bergevin was GM, and he failed.
Very noticeable when your GM sucks.
If we can get a real hockey GM, we wont need a hockey president....

The habs have been in this state of confusion for so long it's hard to believe anything would embarrass Geof ,when all that comes from the very top is excuses it's not hard to figure out how it has trickled down the entire organization. The leafs are probably praying we make it to the playoffs so they can finally make it past the first round.

I think for some time now, we have all realized our biggest problem has not been MB, but Money Mol$on...
Sad state of affairs right now, and really for the last 5-6 years.
Makes a fella miss Uncle George Gillette

The team is not where it should be.
It's a mess when you think about it.

- We got some albatross contract on players that are slowing down.
- Our center line problems are not resolve. 8 years on the job and we still have no certainty or glimpse of success.
- Our defense is terrible, lack of offense and not even good at defending.
- For a team build on character, years in and years out they showed just the opposite.
- Bergevin made 2 coaches changes that didn't bring any difference in the results.
- Alzner is still $4M on the cap this year....and $2M next year.
- Danault, Tatar, Armia, Perry could all walk free next summer, they might be tired of losing too. Still we could miss the PO.
- He got 4 forwards under contract for next years (other than prospect, ELC players). One we put on waivers 10 times this year and another is sitting home right now and don't really want to be here.

It's a mess.

Not to mention we have not one elite game changing prospect coming up after all these years (and yes, i don't consider Caulfield an elite game changer - elite scorer, possibly).

Owners should never be involved at any level of the everyday operation of their teams...hire the right people and let it all happen. If you hire the wrong guy, fix your dam mistake!!

It's totally normal that the owner is implicated in the operation of there team, I mean they put there money in that and they take the finical risk. If you would be owner of a business, you would't want to be implicate ?

Pro sports, the owners need to be involved to a degree, just not on the day to day process. That being said he is not, but he has left a clown to run his day to day...
Get the right guy, and be hands off.....get the wrong guy, and be hands off, and here we are.

Yes it's pro sport but at the end of the day it's a business and Molson have millions invest in that business so yes it's normal that he he's invold a little bit like he is right know (not that much). This being said, next time he hire a GM I hope he will take a specialist in sport management to help him making his choice and not an old school guy like Savard

The game, and the business have changed so much.......we really need an educated sports type of guy...some of the newer ex players like a Stevie Y learned the business of the how to, and how not to before ever being given the keys to a real team....
Bergevin was selected because of his short association with the Hawks, and because he is french. 9 years later, the training wheels are still on the bike....and still no results we all like.

The 2 first thing Savard was searching for for the next GM was an ex player who speak French.. so Bergevin was the only candidate for him..

Sadly, this seems to have been the situation. Savard did say, he made a huge mistake doing this, a couple of seasons later. Mol$on is still sitting on his hands.
