That’s a tough one, I’m not sure. They need to make a change and it can’t be from within. They need to bring a new guy in and start over.

I will say no to Roy!

I want Roy, we need some emotions and glory back in the club. I'm sure he'll want to be better than Sakic just because of his ego.

I'd like Mellanby to get a shot. That being said, I see Martin Madden Jr. as the next GM unless Molson can somehow pry Brisebois away from Tampa.

If Molson went with Roy as GM, hire Tallon as President to keep overwatch.

Chris Drury would be amazing but with the language thing...

I don't know if he'd be "amazing", but if I was choosing a new GM and wasn't concerned about language, I'd look at Tulsky from Carolina.

Another perhaps more realistic option for a front office role (perhaps not AGM) is Golden Knights director of hockey operations (essentially an AGM there) Misha Donskov.

They should also probably build an in-house analytics staff. I don't even think that would be really hard, a lot of smart people in that area are from/still are in Montreal.

Personally my 1st choice would be Chris Drury but I don't think that will happen so my 2nd choice would be Patrick Roy. I would try to surround them with that team:

Sr VP of Hockey Operations + Assistant GM : Laurence Gilman
Cap/management/analytic specialist. In Toronto, he have Dubas in front of him who bring the same thing of him so it could be a better opportunity for him.

Assistant GM + Rocket GM: Martin Madden Jr
TT replacement, he would be the Rocket GM, what he's not in Anaheim and I would't be surprise if Anaheim decide to go with Chris Pronger for next GM (What I hope in fact) . A big name like him will help on a smaller market.

Assistant GM: Scott Mellanby
He have a really good reputation in the league and the trade department was never a problem and I think it's good to have a view from the inside for a new GM

Director of Player Personnel: Daniel Brière
He went to Wharton in Pennsylvania University, a really reputed management/business school where Warren Buffet/Elon Musk/Steve Cohen went. He played in the new NHL and he's really intelligent guy. He played with Drury too it could help with the English thing and Roy trade for him when he was with Colorado and like him a lot.

Drury have all what you're searching for a GM.
- He went to school and he's a really calm guy
- Good leader (Capitaine of 2 teams)
- He have the experience that you want and what Bergevin didn't had when he arrived. (5 yrs as Ass gm, 4 yrs as the AHL GM, 2x GM for Team USA at the WC)
-Modern day guy

Mellanby keeps getting considered by other teams, someone thinks he`s is qualified for the job. He knows the organization and the players, he should at least get an interview.

Chris Drury lives near me, he’s not leaving for Canada - very close w Marty St.Louis who lives next town over BTW (another guy who’s got no interest in going back to Canada)

Drury will make a good GM one day.

By far the best candidate. But I also heard he doesn't want to leave NY, he pulled himself out of the Penguins job

I wish the language thing wasn't a thing in this stupid organization!!

I don't think Gorton is going anywhere near. Pittsburgh wasn't really attractive (even Mellanby refuse), they don't want to trade the big 3 and they don't have any futur. Montreal have to0 may to attract him and he would get a team that he can build something. An other pint that could help us, I think he is leaving in Connecticut, so Montreal is not far from home.
