Any kind of war movie showing the other side as the protagonists. It would be controversial in the U.S. but I want it.
Letters from Iwo Jima.

As the grandson of one of the "bad guys" from WWII this has always interested me. I would find it interesting to see how the Germans got swept up in the fever in the decade before the war, and to see the war from their side.
One could imagine the emotional rollercoaster of a supporter seeing Hitler's rise to power, early wins at war, then loses, then the abject shame with the exposure of the holocaust, and finally needing to return to normal life.
It would be a hard film to direct. Balancing ensuring there are no positive fascist tones or glorifying the politics. While still keeping the lead character/s as relatable for the viewer to not just cheer for their immediate death.
Like a German Band of Brothers.

The best war film from the German perspective that I've seen is Das Boot.

I would love to see a movie about what the world would be like without colonialism. I feel like the true history of the world was rewritten seeing all the evidence of ancient civilizations dating back more than 14000 years ago.
Wow, thanks for that. The closest thing I’ve seen to that is the Kim Stanley Robinson book: the Years of Rice and Salt.

Resurrection of Christ. Could be a sequel to "Passion". Seriously.

Also, a Johnny Cash bio-pic from 1968 until the end of his life. Basically, from where "Walk The Line" ends.Steve McQueen bio-pic.

Band of Brothers didn't have much of anything to do with politics or events leading up to the war. What you're describing sounds like two different films or miniseries. As the grandson of one of the "bad guys" from WWII this has always interested me. King vs Cook , and how Kamehameha united the feuding islands. Hawaii has some interesting history.Hawaii history (the King Kamehameha kind) seems like it'd be cool to see on film.
Don't know about those but Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast is really good.Reading this thread again I'm almost certain we all watch the same history channels on youtube. Cody's knowledgehub & alternatehistoryhub, Nick Hodge's History Buffs, Simple History, The Great War, History with Hilbert etc.
Eastwood did an interesting thing a few years ago
two movies
Flags of our Father and Letters from Iwo Jima
some people called Eastwood as being unpatriotic in his telling of the story from the Japanese side of things
