The literal reading of the title made me think of what events in history I would like to see. I would like to see all of what was going on at Stonehenge during that whole period. The building of it and the ceremonies, whatever they were exactly.

this is the closest we have to that now:

The sinking of the Titanic but without a bull**** cliche Hollywood romance attached

You ever see any of the deleted scenes for Titanic? Cameron filmed a ton of historical scenes yet cut most of them to focus on DiCaprio/Winslet. It amazes me how someone in Cameron who knows Titanic's history (and has visited the wreck countless times) so well would besmirch the story with a dweeby Romeo and Juliet story.

I wonder if with the deleted scenes if you could edit it all into what you said. I doubt anyone tries to top Titanic.

Well, it did make over two billion dollars.

Well, it did make over two billion dollars.

That doesn't always mean it's a good movie, although I don't mind Titanic.

Think of all these crappy superhero movies that are big box office successes. And don't forget all of Bay's crap as well. Meanwhile some of the greatest movies of all time didn't make a nickel.

Yeah a lot of those deleted scenes are great.

The unbelievable story of Paul Michael Larson, an unemployed ice cream truck driver who flipped CBS’ mega hit game show Press Your Luck on its ear and won over $110,000 (an all time record on any game show at the time).

Michael Larson - Wikipedia

He was accused of cheating and made the shows creators look foolish, when he revealed that he memorized their five set patterns for the board, by taping and watching the show over and over. By having a meticulous understanding of these patterns, it helped him avoid the whammies (which instantly clear away all your winnings).

It’s a fascinating story and brings up interesting debates about whether he cheated, or if he simply outsmarted the showrunners at CBS.

I lean heavily towards the later, but the fallout after the show with accusations of cheating, CBS refusing to pay him and Larson managing to lose all of his winnings within two years, would make for a hell of a Hollywood drama if done right.

Here is a brief clip about the scandal:

Found this on that Wiki site:

A biographical feature film was planned in 2000 in which Bill Murray would portray Larson,[6] but was never produced.[7]

The story of Lauri Törni / Larry Thorne (I know there's the 1968 The Green Berets film).

Lauri Törni - Wikipedia

Lauri Allan Törni (28 May 1919 – 18 October 1965), later known as Larry Thorne, was a Finnish soldier who fought under three flags: Finnish, and later German when he fought the Soviets in World War II, and American (where he was known as Larry Thorne) when he served in US Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War. Törni was killed in action during the Vietnam War.

God it would make such a great series. So much intrigue, betrayal, and backstabbing. An empire and lifelong friendships disintegration in a power vacuum as they all jostle for position only to see it all crumble due to their fighting.

The story of the Denmark Vesey planned slave revolt and its lingering effect on the Charleston community would make a good film (or miniseries).

I'd love to watch a huge budget series on the Civil War. There would be a ton of interesting characters and big budget battles.

While a modern retelling of the Bismarck sinking is a great idea, I'd rather see a film Taffy III, the USS Johnston, the USS Samuel B Roberts, and the action off Samar during the Battle of Leyte Gulf first.

This is one of history's most lopsided naval battles where a handful of light destroyers, destroyer escorts, and escort carriers who's planes were not equipped for anti ship operations faced down and turned back the main Japanese battle fleet that included the IJN Yamato. The Yamato's tonnage alone outweighed all of Taffy III's combined.

I would love to see a biography on Lou Gehrig. Either call the movie “Gehrig” or “Iron Horse”.

Everyone knows that Lou Gehrig died of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). The disease is actually more commonly called Lou Gehrig’s disease. The movie could be based upon his life but also has a backstory on ALS and how horrible of a disease that it truly is.

-born in Manhattan, New York so hometown boy
-was one of four children and the only one to live to adulthood
-at the age of 21 he was studying at Columbia University and his father lost his job and his mom got sick. He was a star player on their baseball team at the time. He quit school to try to play baseball to support his family and was signed to a minor league contract with the Yankees
-lived with his parents until the age of 30 when he got married
-at the age of 24 he made the Yankees and did not miss a game in 14 seasons
-played for the Yankees from 1925-1939
-set the record by playing 2,130 consecutive games
-.340 career batting average
-was the first player to ever hit four home runs in a game
-in May of 1939 he removed himself from the lineup because he was feeling weak. The month later he was diagnosed with the disease on his birthday
-died in 1941 at the age of 37

So let’s start off by saying that sports movies with sad endings just get to me for some reason. His speech “I may have been given a bad break but I’ve got an awful lot to live for” would just be heartbreaking to watch. Tears would be shed.

The movie would depict a lot of historical baseball players. Great sports movies do not come out too often.

The movie would raise awareness to ALS and would hopefully raise money which could potentially go towards a cure.

Have you not seen The Pride of the Yankees? It's considered one of the greatest sports films ever made and received 11 Academy Award nominations. If there's been a shortage of Lou Gehrig biographies, it could be because it was done so perfectly the first time.

More Roman or Mesopotamian historical shows. I could list off events but I couldn't pick one.

I know there are a lot of movies in particular around the Roman times but usually they're pretty awful and heavy on special effects, gore and hero-worship of one guy.

The TV shows are either ancient (40-50 years old) or it's Rome and Spartacus. I really preferred Rome. I think there was a new show out recently in the UK (forgot name) and I watched it but it's more a fantasy show than a Roman empire show.

two bands I would like to see--in sort of a juxtaposition of how crazy the 70's were

Badfinger and Bay City Rollers

two bands who got screwed out of millions and is the case of Badfinger it lead to the suicide of two of the band members

I live in Wales right now and there are still people around from when Badfinger was hitting it big and they say to this day--the families of the band members still do not get paid the royalties due to the contracts that their manager signed in NYC in the 70's. It is believed that one of the five families (mob) in NYC to this day is still getting the cheques
