I have bolded every guy I wanted who got snagged when I thought I'd be able to get them. The frustration of this game is getting to me

I'll say it again as I've said it before: elite players suffer from metrics like DFF% and CF% because they're so good they don't need to generate as many chances to score so many goals. I've weighted DFF and CF to their overall correlation to GF, but! things like PDO still suffer from their increased abilities as they tend to just have better on-ice shooting percentages.

We're all aware that I am posting all of these rankings/measures/scores for fun and none of us should be taking them 100% seriously, right?

Of course. I think all of us are mature enough to take these in good strides. Very interesting findings nonetheless! I’ve actually been really impressed by this draft. I haven’t really seen very many bad picks and all of the teams look pretty good imo.

So upon looking at my list I've come to the scientific conclusion that there are no elite defenceman steals left to be taken at this point... and thus I've made the grave error of thinking people would undervalue someone truly special. It may be a costly miscalculation.

I have one guy that I really like from watching him this season - I'll be surprised if someone takes them but if they do, bravo.

Not in a mean spirited way.....but I find it funny that your team has like....170 goals or something.

You'd be near the bottom of the league.

Ergo....don't get too fancy. lol.
We'd concede the fewest goals in the league too. We're like an LA Kings 2012.

edit: excuse me, but we have 183 goals.

Absolutely, and I appreciate you sharing all of that with us, as well as the team analysis that you've provided.

Honestly my favourite stat to look at has been Corsi Relative because at least I can tell if seines severely outperforming their team. Yes Panda, I know some of my choices still have iffy stats there but they were selected to play a specific role on my team to ensure competitiveness.

actually, on a prorated 82 game season, my team's looking at 233 goals over the season without a full roster.

maybe we're the 2019 islanders.

You know the draft is thin on defensemen when you’re keeping your fingers crossed hoping that no one steals Jake McCabe, lol (someone took him earlier by the way which once again caused me mental problems). You might find some hidden gems on defense but I think for the most part, your best bets are past their prime vets or guys that haven’t entered their primes yet.

Yeah I have a few on the LD side I like, which is strange cause earlier on I had way more on the RD side that I trusted. But nothing really in total steal territory, other than one I have my eye on and expect to be long gone

And Aston Reese the new Mark Stone

ZAR has been referred to as the defensive version of Evgeni Malkin (I cant remember the exact stat, but some analyst using advanced stats showed that ZAR is as dominating on the defensive side of things as Malkin has been in the offensive zone).

While I don’t think ZAR will ever have “hands of Stone” (pun intended), I think he’ll be one of the best defensive players in the NHL for a long time.

Do I even need a bonafide #1C if I have Panarin?

Panarin-Strome-Buchnevich
Kreider-Danault-Nichushkin
Calvert-Eller-Grimaldi

Slavin-Weegar
Scandella-Shattenkirk
McCabe-Rutta
