Do I even need a bonafide #1C if I have Panarin?

I do love the unique and innovative way that you’ve built your team. While I’m not sure if Strome is the type of guy that you’d want as a number one center, Panarin is more than capable of carrying that line. Add to that, you have a whole bunch of exceptional defensive forwards Danault, Nishuskin, Ellers, etc.), along with a deep defense and a strong goalie, and there’s definitely a lot to like about your team. I know your team has been compared to LA 2012 and the 2019 Islanders, but I’m also inclined to compare your team to the 2000 Devils team that won by stifling opponents with hard work ethic while scoring timely goals.

Adjusted my team's goals and GF% by PDO, then struck out the ratio.

82 games in, my team is calculated to score 226 goals while letting in 168 goals for a lovely +58 goal differential or a +0.7/game.

Zaitsev cannot be on the top pairing. Swap him and Hronek and we're looking better already..

Really like the 2nd and 3rd lines though, and Raanta was a steal.

Very fair, thanks. I was honestly even thinking DeKeyser up there, my thought process as I drafted was to give a bit of balance to all the pairs but in reality that leads to one pair that'll likely get chewed up by stronger competition.

Don't get me wrong I do think there is some value in Zaitsev as a sheltered 3rd pairing PKer, but I've seen him get eaten alive by top pairing competition for too long to have any trust he can handle it. Even playing 40% of his shifts with Chabot this season he was destroyed. Splitting up Werenski and Theodore is smart, but you need guys with them that won't drag them down.

The number 1 D in both GA/60 and FA/60 on the penalty kill this season for players over 100 minutes of PK time was Nick Jensen.

He played 160 minutes on the PK and only 8 goals went in while he was on the ice. Nobody was really close to his rates considering amount of TOI.

If you do the math - that means teams average around 10% on the PP when Jensen is on the ice on the PK - even the Sens awful PP is at 14.2%.

Theodore has a weaker defensive game than Werenski, though, so his pairs may balance better with Jensen staying with Theodore while Hronek jumps to first pair.

I've always been huge fan of Jensen and from that start of the draft I was trying to feel out when I'd be able to take him. I was really pumped I could snag him as my 6th drafted D.

Six picks until I’m up again you guys are motoring today. I like the Hutton on Oleksiak picks. Oleksiak was sneaky solid this year was looking at those two guys to complete my defence

Very good team! The only real red flag I see is Zaitsev being on that top pairing. Might be better to have a defensive minded dman with Werenski. The ying to the yang so to speak. Doughty had Muzzin, and Keith had Seabrook for instance.

y'all want to not let Ullmark and Lundqvist drop forever and then go on a goalie run and make them both disappear before my next pick...

Amazing to think there's still ~100 guys left in the NHL. My list is steadily shrinking.
