That's a bit too simple. It still could be both. Bad roster and bad coaching.

It could but in this case, the Coaching Staff's ineptitude tips the scales GREATLY to be the more prominent issue to be resolved.

I want to see another Coach to put these players in a position to succeed before I pass Judgement on their Devils careers.

100% agree. Do I think they're a playoff team with a different coach? Probably not but they sure as hell wouldn't be a bottom 3 team in the league.

They would be on the bubble at least. Lots of mediocre teams crowded together.

They should be doing better then Buffalo or Montreal right now IMO. Never mind the basement dwellers they can’t pass

I should not have used very little. He has been ok his first two years my point his he isn’t going to live up to his draft status. He isn’t gonna be a game changer. He will be a nice solid player but will not live up to his draft status.

Nico’s scoring at a 0.65PPG rate through his first 3 years in the league.

MacKinnon rocked 0.70PPG.

Larkin was at 0.57PPG.

Barkov, 0.62PPG.

It is supremely shortsighted to speak in absolutes about a 20-year-old center’s potential, especially when he plays for a mouth-breathing pud that doesn’t have a clue.

Well unfortunately we’ll never know about the playoffs because now it’s too late even if a replacement comes in and somehow gets things turned around. They’ve already pissed away too much of the season.

That's what really pisses me off that this is still going on. We get rid of Hynes 10 games ago, we still have a chance at something.

...which is another good reason to not fire him until the offseason

Gotta disagree with that. At the very least, you get a better look at the players if a temp is brought in. Another 57 games of this trash also doesn’t sound appealing. Shero’s gotta have some kind of response here. That said, I think he’s here till the bitter end.

true, and that’s a good reason to fire him. but the reason for keeping him (a top 5 pick) is valid too IMO. (please, nobody disagree and say you’re sick of top 5 picks, because that’s a very stupid opinion).

i could go either way, but like i said earlier i think my preference is sacking the whole staff and bringing fitz/stevens in to close out the year

we can still get a top 5 pick but at least we can try and change the environment. these players aren’t developing and i can’t imagine it’s much fun to be on this team right now

I wonder if Stevens still wants to get back into coaching. I was disappointed that he was let go when Ray brought in Hynes. I believe he can coach, but obviously has zero experience as a HC, but at this point I'm sure he'd be better than Hynes. Boucher would be an upgrade too.

I'd steer clear of Stevens as HC. He'd be a very good replacement for Nasreddine, though.

It's time to run Hynes off .. he's getting nothing from his players. They've apparently tuned him out. Time for a new voice.

I said a few weeks ago that Thanksgiving MIGHT be some sort of "deadline" for this team. Maybe with the Lebrun report the dominoes are starting to fall.
