Something along the lines of him not seeing how bringing in another 18 year old is going to turn this team around. Let's not forget, MacT tried very hard to trade last year's 1st rounder. It was only when those talks fell apart that he went to plan B and drafted Nurse.

That's the only thing he said that caught my interest. It sounds like the 1st round pick will be very much in play.

To hell with trading the pick unless a legit impact player that is a WINNER and plays a physical brand of hockey can be had. Draft Ekblad, Reinhart or whoever and start dumping the cow pies off the SS Oilers this offseason and start making big offers to guys that we really need on this team.

If that doesn't work just start picking a bunch of guys off waivers ala the Islanders from a few years back, they can't possible be worse than the **** stains that we already have here and they might actually be hungry to play in the NHL.

Trading the pick is the easiest choice ever. They have to. we need help now.

Which means they'll probably draft another small forward.

EDIT: of course, it depends on the pick and what return you can actually get. What I really mean is that trading for a proven NHL player that can help us (if at all possible) is more viable now than it has been in the past.

We need to end the season on a high note, drafting in the top 3 wouldn't be this.

We made big offers to guys last year and didn't get them, so why would it work this off-season coming up when the team looks even worse?

The team blows... trading the 1st round pick is BOLDLY STUPID when it's looking like a top 2 pick at this stage. You aren't going to get a top pairing dman never mind a #1 dman for that 1st round pick and if that's not coming back... forget it.

Keep the pick and take the BPA. Fix the team with other moves. Trading a likely top 2 pick when this team has holes galore is a cop-out move by management... do your job MacT and make roster moves and coaching changes... or simply step down if you can't do that.
